Well I figured it out!!!!!! this is for my fireplace so yours may be different.

Make sure all batteries are new and contacting good.

    Trun on Remote

use the up-dn arrows and go to Timer.

Push the - (minus) button ten times OR until the screen goes blank.

Usin the UP-DN button set the code to 005. ( for DESA FirePlace) you may have to find the right code for your receiver.

Puch the - (minus) button once more.

Test it out to see if it works with your receiver.

Note : my receiver dip pins are set 1 and 3 up all others down.

    Hope it works for you.

    God Bless!!!

Also to change from C% to F% do the same except push the + (plus) button once. Check the display to see if it changed. then press the - (minus) button once.

I just had the exact same problem with my SIT FRC 0.584.004 fireplace unit. I was dead in the water. It would not turn on. It would not turn down. I replaced the battery and it beeped once, but would not do anything except work in manual, but nothing in auto, until I did exactly what Talons06 stated and it started working - Immediately! I cannot believe it. I wish I had the entire instruction set. How in the world did Talons06 figure this out, I cannot imagine. My fireplace is working now. Did he have access to some sort of secret codes? Sure proud Talons shared, but would love to know more about my unit. I got this when I bought my house, but had no instructions on this rascal. How do the other modes work? Sure would like to know more about it. Thanks for sharing.

I found another answer bundled with a replacement remote I was going to order that rejuvenated the old unit so I didn't have to replace it. The instructions are: The 0.584.004 Remote Transmitter Advanced remote control system for both direct vent and vent-free fireplace, gas logs and other hearth products.

The 0.584.004 Remote Transmitter is designed to work together with the 820 NOVA mV multi functional control gas valve and the stepping motor conversion kit as well as the 829 NOVA mV Gas Control Valve.
Remote on Frequency 005
Turn Remote on then scroll down to the Timer:
Press the Minus button - 10 times...you are now in the frequency section.
Now use your up and down keys to get frequency 005
NOTE: The + Key will change your temp from C to F...pay attention.
Press Minus- again to exit and your remote is now set.
This 0.584.004 will replace the following transmitters by SIT Controls
FRC 0.584.004, FRC-0.584.004, FRC0584004
QFA-FRC584001,QFAFRC-584.001,FCC ID: QFA-FRC584001T

My remote broke, I bought a new on e bay. RT8220A Transmitter, how do I set it to turn the gas fireplace on?

Move LOCAL/REMOTE Switch to LOCAL position for at least two seconds; then move switch to the REMOTE position.

Press Fan or Flame key within 30 seconds

Here is a link I found to a manual.

How to replace my charmglow electric fireplace with a gas insert

Check your local building codes for restrictions. You MUST have the proper exhaust for a gas unit. There may also be flooring and wall requirements that need to be changed.

When we turn the remote on, neither the heat or light come on anymore. Has been working fine up to this point.

Have you changed the batteries in the hand-held transmitter? If not, that may be the problem. Be sure you use fresh batteries out of the package and not recycled ones. If changing the batteries does not solve the problem. Unplug the fireplace from the electrical receptacle and leave unplugged for 10-15 minutes. This will allow enough time for it to reset itself.

Hope this solves your problem.

Is there a remote 4 the fireplace pyrosmaster331hef

Yes, I believe you can, if it;s an electric fireplace, as I suspect.
It's part # 10006950. They call it a transmitter.

Go to the following link and check it out to see if that's what you need. Also, contact Dixie Products in Roanoke, VA, as I am sure Mark Silverstein can help you.

I have a Dimplex Fireplace with remote control. I believe the model number to be BF335STP/DXP. We have had this fireplace for almost 2 years. When we have a power outage you have to follow some...

There was a recall on some of the remotes. Check to see if yours is one of them. If you take the plug put of the remote box, and just plug it directly into the wall,it should work.

Gas fireplace pilot flame won't stay lit.

Hi , you can try and pull the panel on the bottom of fireplace out and check the adapter in fireplace. Sometimes they go bad. When you open in also check to see if there is an adapter plugged in and a option to use the battery operated function. If this goes bad the pilot will not stay lit.

My remote won't start the fire in my vent free fire place.

Mine did the same thing. What happens is when the batteries die and the remote sits, the remote loses its address. I found this link to the remote manual online. You have to locate your receiver in the fireplace insert. On the receiver there is some dip switch settings. Open up the link below and go to the appendix at the bottom and find your address of the receiver, mine was 005. Go to your remote and power on. Hit the up arrow until you are at the timer. Now hit the left arrow on your remote 10 times, this will diplay the address of the remote, mine was 000, change this number to match your address of the receiver by hitting the up arrow on the remote, I changed mine to 005. Now hit the left arrow again and this will take you out of programming. Power on your remote and should work, enjoy.
