SOURCE: What will happen if I burn a diesel/ gas mix in a

Hi, If the heater recommends kerosene or diesel only, and you mix gas into the situation, you will get an explosion and fire loosing not only the heater but most everything else.Unless the spec's say you can since it will use other fuels, gas would be one I would not use, mixed or not, like I say only if it says you can. At 70,000 B.T.U.s, as it says above, this Reddy heater burns hot anyway, and I don't want to put you in a dangerous situation by saying yes, go right ahead? So please check first, I would say no way. Good Luck, and Sincerely, Shastalaker7

Clean your nozzel, check your fuel & air lines, you may need to replace Spark plug and filters. You can go to the manufacturers website at www.desatech.com and they offer service manuals. I hope this helps you!

Will diesel fuel substitute for number 1 heating oil. cant by that around here

Hi,
Yes, you can burn diesel in there but... you will have more trouble with the heater... it burns crappy and soots everything up...actually the best thing to burn is K-1 Kero in them... that burns the cleanest... and it won't gel in really cold temps...

CAN I PUT DIESEL IN MY KERO REDDY HEATER 150,000 BTU HEATER AND WILL IT SMELL OR RUIN IT

since the combustion temp of diesel is different from KERO, expect the heater to shut down from overheating at times.
since it will probably heat up faster than on KERO.

Is it okay to burn Premium Diesel instead of Kero? Also, will I have a stronger odor problem with the premium instead of kero?

yes its ok, just make sure the air pressure pump is dialed in right. With the right air pressure the heater will perform at its best and burn as clean as it can. Its the slotted set screw (plastic usually) on the back next to the air filter. Turn it in 1/4 turn at a time till the nose cone is almost all red or orange in color. This will give you the cleanest burn. Then adjust doors/windows for fresh air as needed. Hope this helps

Does not light sometimes smell kero and have to reset and then it will work

Sounds like the optical EYE is dirty. It sits right below the fuel nozzel. remove it clean it and reinstall it. 50 cents says it will light, prividing you have spark and fuel.

Diesel

well, somebody once told me that if you add a quart of oil to 5 gal of kero, it makes a good diesel substitute. So, in theory, I would add a little ethinal (corn gas) to the kero.
