Also have Tivax STB-8 converter. Tried to use RCA , Phillips and Zenth universal remotes to control converter. No sucess. Tivax website said

converter uses NEC protocol, like on NEC type remotes. They suggested trying some of the NEC remote codes. Tried, didn't work. Is a NEC type remote different than JVC, RCA, Phillips or Zenth?

We have a JVC 36" model AV36D104 TV; the new converter box remote will work on a limited basis but certainly not all stations and all the time. We need to get another converter box and need to make sure the remote for it will run the JVC.

SOURCE: HAVE A magnavox tb100mw9 for

Found a solution that works well...

I picked up a Sony RM-VL600 universal remote with learning capability. With this unit, I've been able to program all the functions of the TB100MW9 DTV Converter box.

I picked up this unit at Walmart for $25, but have seen it on Amazon for as little as $16.

This remote is a vast improvement over the remote that comes with the Magnavox DTV converter, and was easy to program.

Changing Remote Control Code

This Remote is capable of transmitting two control codes; one set
to respond to A code control signals and another set to respond to
B code control signals. This Remote control is preset to send A
code signals because your VCR is initially set to respond to A code
signals. You can easily modify your VCR and the Remote to
respond to B code signals. When using two JVC VCRs, set two
VCRs and their Remotes to different codes, so that you can
operate these VCRs separately.

A
Set remote control code for Remote

A
Press and hold A/B.
B
Press the Number key .2..
C
Press OK, and release A/B.

.
The Remote now can transmit B code control signals.
B
Check remote control code for VCR

Press and hold 4
on the VCR for more than 5 seconds while the
VCR is turned off. The code currently set appears on the display
panel.

C
Change code for VCR

Press any key on the Remote. The VCR now responds to B code
control signals.

.
To set the Remote and the VCR back to A code control signals,
repeat the same procedure as shown above except pressing the
Number key .1”
in step B
of 1
1111.
To control two VCRs with the same Remote

You can control two JVC VCRs by switching the remote control
code for the Remote between A and B (.
step A
AAAA), keeping two
VCRs to different control codes.

.
To change only the remote control code for the Remote, DO
NOT perform steps B
BBBBand C
CCCC.

SOURCE: do you have a code for tivax converter box

No, sorry I don't think so. Universal remotes only have codes for TVs. A Tivax Converter Box is kind of like a CD-DVD player right. If so, sorry I don't think it does have a code.

Maybe the remote got dropped by the cleaners. If you could control volume with the remote previously and now can't, I suspect the remote needs to be replaced.

I need to reset my Tivax STB-T8 and need the code for the remote. Unfortunately, the manaul, box and code info is gone. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

If you wish to get more details, check this site. Pull up older posts there. Setup code list and setup proceedings to many popular brand remote controls are given. Three digit, Four digit, Five digit and two digit code list are there. Check the site with patience. Surely you'll get a solution to your problem. Search the site by 'Timeslide' option. It will make search easy. Or, type in the brand name to your device into its search box, and press "Enter."

Yamaha RX-V661 - no audio since I hooked up digital converter box

Immediately you have the problem of TV audio out to DVR audio out. Inputs go to outputs and outputs go to inputs - always.
I think what you may want to do is daisy chain all your audio (e.g. audio output of Tivax to audio input of VCR. Audio output of VCR to audio input of DVR. Audio output of DVR to an audio input of the Yamaha) In order to get the audio from any given device to the reciever, you may have to power up all of components.) Of course in order to record on the VCR and DVR you would attach the antenna to the RF input on the Tivax , RF output to the RF input of the VCR, RF output of the VCR to the RF input of the DVR and finally the RF output of the DVR to the antenna input of the TV. I don't know whether there would be any losses in such an elaborate hookup such that the RF signal would not be strong enough to get stations but you can experiment by just taking links out of this daisy chain. Hope this helps.

Analog to Digital TV Converter-Which Brand is BEST for the Money?

my first question is how many channels can you receive now, that are clear with no snow, without a dtv box hooked up. if any channels have snowy pictures now when tuned in at best reception, you more than likely will not pick then up with the dtv box. the only option in my opinion that some may prefer from one model to another would be the program guide on some units only show whats on now and next, whereas some units may have a 5 to 7 day program guide. there is one unit out that has a noticeable hum on the audio if turned to a high volume. Im not familiar with the dtt901, but from what you have looked at so far, you shouldnt go wrong with purchasing any one of them. If you can only get 1 or 2 channels now, i wouldnt invest a fortune in a dtv box, unless its your only means of viewing television, and watch alot of tv.

You want to get signal over the air;
Connect the antenna to the Tivax converter box.
