It sounds like it's unbalanced. Try redistributing the clothes and/or washing smaller loads. If that doesn't fix the problem, you may need to call out a technician.

SOURCE: Loud bang during spin

Remove the top of the machine and check if the centralising spring/s is/are still attatched. Next remove back cover or tilt machine back and inspected the shock absorbers. One of the shockies could be broken or just pulled out of the guide. If springs and shockies are ok open the door and try to move the inner drum up, down and sideways. If it is very loose, then the centre bearing is worn.

SOURCE: washer sounds like off balance during spin

old duets have nut on rear pulley that becomes loose. remove rear panel and tighten nut. check while spinning by hand if pop is felt. if it rotates smoothly then you may need new shocks on tub

SOURCE: loud banging noise during washing cycle. Sounds

Grab the agitator at the base and attempt to rotate it clockwise and counter clock wise. It should remain firmly in place. If there is movement the agitator spline is worn.

This is your Agitator:

It does not come with the fabric dispenser. It has to be ordered seperately. You should be able to transfer you old one to the new one if you do have to replace the agitator.

Besides the agitator the drive bell can also be the source of the noise. It is located under the agitator.

http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-WBSR3140DW-%3d%3dc239i1195917&PartID=1195917

This part is the most likely cause of the noise.

Thanks for using FixYa.

What is causing the tub of my top load washer to bang against the back side of the washer while it is in the spin cycle? The washer also vibrates violently.

sounds like the damping system is the problem. The drum may have moved out of place or the damper(s) have become faulty in some manner. I used to have a hotpoint washer that tried to destroy the room it was in by travelling around it after the drum had fallen off its mounts. I bought a new machine, my thinking being that there is no point in taking a risk of having a real disaster if I set it to wash and then go out.

GE front load is making loud banging noise during spin, any ideas how to fix?

Sounds like what happens in a top load when the load is "out of balance". I suppose it's less likely to occur with front load. Test with a "light" load. Is the washing action a reversing action? If so there may be a transmission problem.

Open the cabinet top and check along the sides for a broken or out-of-position damper. Shake the mechanism in several directions to help locate. Hope this helps!

Zannusi fl 1082 very loud banging noise when spinning

This is most likely due to an unbalanced load. The drom on the washer is only mounted at the bottom and if your load is heavy on one side, when it spins, the centrifigual force will make the inner drum hit the outer and bang. When you hear this happenning, open the lid, drag some of the wet items from the heavy side to the light side and close the lid again. The banging should go away. If you want to see what is happenning (though you MUST BE CAREFUL when doing this), activate the spin with the lid open by suing a stick or small screwdriver to press on the switch that is normally depressed by a post on the lid. The unit will 'think' the lid is closed and will resume its cycle. You should see the major wobble during the spin. NEVER PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE WASHER WHILE IT IS MOVING>

Loud banging noise when machine goes into spin mode. sounds like it is banging on the side. Please help !

Usually this is an out-of-balance condition caused by too much weight on one side of the tub, move the clothes around and try again.

Loud knocking sound

You have a bad drive block. This block is located under the inner tub. A special spanner wrench is required to remove the tub. You really need to call a service tech for this repair.
