Question about Sharp R-530ES Microwave Oven
This microwave oven is slightly over 1 year.
Touch pad was not responsive to begin with, getting worse over time. In the beginning, I have to push very hard to get response on a few buttons. Then the number "0", "stop/clear and "minute plus" buttons stopped working completely about 5 months ago, and I just worked around it by pushing "1-1-1" instead of 1 min.
Today, it simply stopped working after I gently cleaned its interior with a damp cloth. (i unplugged the power cord first). It keeps blinking "8888" after plugged in again, and I can't get any response from any button.
There are two options here:
1. Order a new control panel frame which has the keypad, trim piece and door button already installed and swap your control boards into it.
The original part number FPNLCB346MRK0 has been replaced by part # FPNLCB346MRK0B and it runs $58.28 plus shipping.
2. Disassemble your control panel frame, peel off the old keypad and stick a new one on.
Even though the keypad alone runs only $35.66, this job takes a lot of time and labor.
If you (or someone you know) might want to replace just the keypad yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.
Whichever option you choose, we have the service manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here to help you.
You will need the free Acrobat Reader to view or print it in case you don't have it already.
