Why do I blow fuses?

Hi Pete
Are you blowing fuses in the receiver/amp or speakers? Without knowing what device you're referring to, I would guess that you have a problem with your speakers not having enough power handling capability for the amp that's driving them (which would blow your speaker fuse) OR (if you're blowing receiver/amp fuses) too many speakers wired in parallel showing your receiver/amp far less than the 8 ohms or even 4 ohms impedance that it is rated for. For example, two four-ohm speakers wired in parallel shows a 2-ohm load to the receiver/amp. Not many consumer devices have the capability to load down to 2 ohms.

Hope this helps.

WHY DOES MY ACOUSTIC RESEARCH AR3 TOWER SPEAKER BLOWS INTERNAL FUSE..FIX?

Check to see who the manufacturer is. The Acoustic Research name was sold a couple of times. I think yours may be Recoton. If so, you may be able to get some help from them.

Can i use a 250v 4a fuse for my cerwin vaga speaker even if its not a slow blow and what could happen if i did would it damage the speakers

If you're replacing the fuse with the same specs and the only difference is the new one is not a "slow blow", you won't damage the speakers, but the fuse could blow again even if there is no actual fault. The slow blow is designed to accept a temporary surge of power without blowing - as in initial power up.

E315 cerwin vegas speakers and one keeps blowing a fuse when I turn it up to the normal volume I play them. Can I use a bigger fuse or is it the speaker?About a yr old rarely used until the last few mo

Try playing the speakers at a friends house or something to see if you blow their fuse. If you don't then you know for sure that you need a bigger fuse, but if you do then it's the speaker.

Im a dj and i keep blowing one channel on my amp it has happened on a 3 differant amps now

Hi.

Check speaker wiring. An amp final channel usually blows because of excessive draw from speakers. This often happens because one of the speaker is shorted inside or because of a wiring problem.
Also ensure that speakers are responding to specifications. Speakers that are out of the amp Ohms range will do the same thing in a while.

Naturally you can also blow an amp final by pumping volume to the max for a while. The transistors or the STK ICs in the final section will overheat and blow.

Regards.

Ginko.

Blows fuse on left speaker

Check the left channel semicondutors for short circuits. Anything that blows a fuse is causing an overload. If one of them is acting like it was just a piece of wire, it will blow the fuse.

I recently purchased a denon av surround re- ceiver avr-2805,and a set of cerwin-vega LS-15, (separetly). When playing a cd though my dvd player, at around 0.0dB and up the fuses will blow in both speakers...

Depending on the wattage of the amp to the wattage off the speakers depends on what to use and how to control them..If your speakers are rated for more power than the amp can produce it will blow the fuses just as if the amp is rated for more than the speakers it will blow the fuse..Those type of speakers do need a good supply of power to run and speaker wire size could play an important part of that.If wire supply is to small it will over heat the coil in speakers and also blow the fuse...Look in side of the boxes to see what kind of capacitors they have on the speakers or there size to insure correct for speakers them selves..Also look at all of the wire routling in the amp to insure proper installation..Hope this helps you..Have a great day

Amplifier keeping blowing fuse

This almost always indicates a blown speaker. If you have an ohm meter you can use that to test the impedance on your speakers. After disconnecting the speaker - touch the red lead to one connector and the black lead to the other. If it reads something other than 8ohms that speaker is blown.
If you don't have an ohm meter you can simply disconnect one speaker at a time and run that way until the fuse blows. If the fuse never blows then you've found the suspect speaker.
Sometimes blown speaker can hide by stealth. When cold everything is normal. When things start to heat up from use the failed circuit shorts and blows the fuse on your amp.

Speaker keeps blowing fuses

Sounds like a short circuit or a defect inside the circuitry that is allowing more power to flow through, thus blowing the fuse. My advice would be to dispose of these speakers for safety reasons and invest in a good quality set.
