How do I oil 8 stitch Kenmore sewing machine


LIft the top off the machine. There usually are two screws to loosen and the top cover will come off. There are oil ports by the moving parts. You will see small holes where a drop of oil should be put in. Then, wipe clean, close and tilt the machine back of show the bottom moving parts. Also, find the moving parts and a drop of oil on all ports to be oiled. Wipe clean and your machine should be oiled efficiently. Make sure the machine running parts are metal.

Have you tried a thorough oiling with good quality sewing machine oil--every place where metal rubs on metal? NO belts, plastic, or other than metal parts. Old oil tends to stick parts together preventing them from moving.

Kenmore sewing machine keeps squeaking how to stop it?


Hello Shirlene, If your Kenmore machine has two drive belts, a belt from the motor to an idler pulley and a belt from the idler pulley to the main shaft. I have found that the idler pulley needs some Teflon grease on the idler pulley shaft. On my machine, the squeak would go away for a while if I oiled this idler pulley shaft. But it was short lived. Only grease on the idler pulley shaft would silence the squeak.

Is there a manual for the portable Kenmore sewing machine 158-12292? Is one supposed to oil this machine?

Remove bobbin and presser foot, and tip machine on its side onto a towel. Remove bottom plate w/ screw driver. Oil moving parts with Zoom Sewing Machine oil, one drop, and lube up gears that show dryness with Singer lubricant in tube. One drop oil top of needle bar, one drop on oscillating hook in race shuttle. Jimmy
