SOURCE: Cuisinart COD 4000 coffeemaker

Just a comment; most of the coffee maker failures are caused by the premature failure of a thermal fuse that is intended to prevent fire in case the main heater doesn't turn off as it should. Unfortunately, most of these parts come from China and are very poorly made so the point at which they 'protect' is pretty unpredictable, many of them failing at a much lower temperature than necessary. The second most common failure is the thermal switch that cycles the main heater element; these are bimetallic switches that grow 'tired' and the point at which they open and close again gets wider apart until it can take an hour for a 12-cup pot to finish brewing.

Turn the function knob to Auto Off
Hold down the hour button til you see the clock display blinking
you can then use the Hour and Minute buttons to program how long you want the coffee maker to stay on.
You can choose from 0 minutes (seems to be what you have it set on now) to 4 hours.

SOURCE: cuisinart coffee maker won't brew

Here is the basic troubleshooting for the Cuisinart coffee makers:
Make sure all baskets are in proper place – especially if unit is beeping.
Do not use a paper and a gold-tone or other permanent filter at the same time.
Unplug for LONGER THAN 15 full minutes to reset.
Clean by brewing 2 oz of distilled white vinegar/2 oz water.
If these methods fail, the unit probably requires replacement – call Cuisinart as they have a longer-than-standard warranty.

SOURCE: Cuisinart coffee maker turns on but will not brew.

Well, you could try unplugging for an hour. Sometimes that helps, but these have been having a lot of problems (but don't ask their customer service that, they can't admit it but I'm pretty sure they all know it!). I would say call customer service anyway if it's under 3 years old (800-726-0190) after you've unplugged it and let them know what's going on (model and serial # are both located on the bottom of the unit, stamped in the black part). If it's under warranty they can offer you a replacement and from what I hear Cuisinart has been getting in new coffee on demand units (like the one you have) that have fixed the problems. They're on back order right now though, so there will be a wait. Other than that, I would say you don't have many options, unless the store is willing to take it back, because this one is pretty much a goner. Not the first time I've seen it. :(

SOURCE: My almost 2 yrs old Cuisinart DCC 2000 coffee

Try this and let me know if it works - plug the coffeemaker in, turn the function knob to BREW, and then press all 3 buttons in the center of the coffeemaker (the 1-4 button, et, etc) and hold them for a few seconds. Let me know if the clock display comes back on.

If not, call Cuisinart and see if it is in-warranty by serial number 1-800-726-0190.

DCC-1150 Coffee Maker does not have power

Talked to Cuisinart tech support and they told me to unplug and leave it for 2 hours... that resets it to the factory defaults.
It looks like a thermal fuse might have blown inside your appliance.
If a thermal fuse has failed, there is probably another problem inside.
If the appliance is 4 months old, still cover under manufacturers warranty, Call the Cuisinart customer service to ask them where to find an authorized service center.
Hope this works for you.

Cuisinart CHW-12 goes dead before completing brew. No lights, no clock- just dead as if a fuse were blown, but outlet is still live.

My first guess would be that the control panel above the carafe has a thermally sensitive component or poor contact that acts like a fuse when it heats up but is fine after a cool-down. If this is the cause, disassembly and detailed inspection are required. If you're handy with a low-wattage soldering iron (30W), you could resolder connections on on the controller.

My second guess would be that there may be an over-temperature circuit in this unit that removes power if the unit gets too hot (you don't want a fire and Cuisinart has has some history here). If this is the cause, there is a failed thermostat in the heating system.

The thermal fuse is probably open, it is usually welded to the heating element and tied into the on/off switch, and usually involves the replacement of the bottom section. The thermal fuse prevents the coffee machine from over heating.

There have been a lot of complaints about these. Have you tried the vinegar trick? Probably wont work. If it is not coming on, it is a power problem maybe with the control module. Do you have a warranty left?

Wont power up, after we had a power surge. It was connected to power strip surge protector, but has not been able to power up since. can it be a fuse problem, or more? magnavox dvd recorder mwr10d6

Apower surge can travel quicker than a surge protector can activate. And a replacement fuse may not fix your DVD. On one occasion I did replace a fuse in one of these after a power surge and the DVD/VCR did comeback to life. You may try...but the odds are against you and you will have to purchase a new one!
