Question about Kenmore Microwave Ovens

Open Question

We removed our wall mounted Kenmore microwave (speed cook oven) and trying to use on the countertop we get an F7 error. Could the F7 error be because the unit is not mounted on the wall - I'd hat

It's a great oven and was working fine before us removing it. We did not drop it or jar it much moving it but we did have some difficulty getting the vent off. Set on the countertop the lights come on and the menu seems to work. I set the cook time then push start, it sounds like it's working but one or two seconds later the F7 error shows up in the display. Looked for a switch or sensor on the wall mount but couldn't find one. Does the f7 error mean the oven is broken?

SOURCE: Microwave doesn't work

Sounds like you have a faulty control panel. I would use a meter and test the power from the control board to the magnetron and circuit board. Chances are the control panel is faulty

I have a Kenmore Elite Speedcook Microwave oven, model #665.63783600. What does error code F7 mean on this model?

F7 Error Code On Microwave Ovens With Inverter Board

An F7 error code could be an inverter board failure. Anything else that prevents microwave energy may also cause an F7 error, and must be checked. The technician should perform the following procedure to test for an F7 error code:

1. Check the magnetron.
2. Check the magnetron TCO (it should be closed).
3. Check the 3 interlock switches.
4. Check the harness wiring.
5. Check the electronic controls.
6. Check the inverter board.

How do I set the timer and use the cook function at the same time on my Kenmore microwave model 405

Either your microwave is defective or you don't understand how to use it. Try Googling (Kenmore)(74229)(manual) without parens to get instructions or go to www.searspartsdirect.com for the same.

I have a old jenn air wall oven and a old jenn air microwave mounted on top. it was a countertop model. when i removed it it was plugged into the top of the oven. would that be a 110 appliance outlet?

The Jenn Air microwave that is mounted above the oven in your unit is 110v 60Hz. The socket in the upper rear right corner of the oven is a 110v 6Hz socket and is where the microwave would be plugged in. If you are going to replace the microwave, you can plug it into that socket. If you would rather not use that socket, you will have to drill a hole in the side of the cabinet holding the over/microwave to get the power cord out.
