Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

ON my new Singer sewing machine, the handwheel is now stuck, after I wound the bobbin thread. Why is it not moving, after I changed the handwheel to engage with the needle?

SOURCE: Not picking up the Bobbin thread

I cleaned the machine good with canned air, oiled it. I took out the bobbin case and cleaned it good also. I then noticed the tension screw on the bobbin case was loose, tightened it and the problem was fixed.

Needle shaft stuck. Machine won't work.

It's possible that you have threads wound somewhere inside the machine. Likely places are the tension unit and near the hand wheel.

I just brought home a Juki 8700. The needle went down and now I can't get it basck up. There is thread stuck in the bobbin. How do I get the bobbin casing off

Cut the thread above the needle eye and rock the handwheel back and forth sharply to cut the thread with the sewing hook. If that doesn't work pretty promptly, undo the needle clamp and turn the handwheel, which should raise the needle bar. Then get into the bobbin case area and try to remove the bobbin case, cutting any threads you can. Keep rocking the handwheel and trying to pull out the needle (pliers help!), and eventually everything will loosen up.

Next, clean and lubricate the area under the needle plate and the shuttle, and reassemble. Put in a brand new needle, right way around and fully up in the machine. Load the bobbin case with a well-wound bobbin, and rethread the top of the machine and you should be good to go.

New Singer 1507- handwheel is stuck.

The bobbin might have a bunch of thread off it inside the compartment here the bobbin is. Also, make sure it's thread correctly, that can goof things up to.

Handwheel stuck

most likely the bobbin thread is wound around the components.
remove the bobbin and check for a mass of thread cut it all away and remove every last bit then it should work

The machine sews normally then once in awhile the material gets stuck in one position, does not move. The bobin thread seems to be a bit tangled in the bobbin case. What is going on?

Your bobbin may be wound uneven, try winding a fresh bobbin and make sure that you are using the same weight thread in the top and bottom. And try a fresh needle.

New singer 7469 won't sew . it will not pick up the bobbin thread I have changed thread, needle, bobbin I have re threaded it

Check the needle to be sure it was properly installed - usually with the flat side of the shaft facing the back of the machine.

Hold onto the thread tail at the needle and lower and raise the needle with the handwheel (not the power pedal) to lift the bobbin thread.

Take both thread tails under the presser foot and to the back of the sewing machine before starting to sew.

I have a Singer Special Zig Zag Model 418. I can

More than likely you have a broken vertical shaft gear.

When you turn the handwheel you should see the sewing hook moving under the bobbin case.

If not, take it to a sewing repair person and it should cost somewhere around $100 to repair.

The machine stopped during sewing

Thread is caught in the hook...Remove the upper thread and bobbin case, turn the hand wheel backwards and forwards by hand and remove the thread remands. Good Luck
