Question about Kenmore Vacuums
After sucking up a pair of stockings that got stuck around the roller brush and finally got it out. There seems to be no suction at all when I run it on the carpet, I cleaned the filters and the dirt collector. There is suction but not for the main floor.

The flaw is in the design. The roller on these things will go bad on you eventually as the roller motor is incorporated into the roller itself rather than being belt driven. To seal against hair and dirt from getting into the roller bearings there is felt around the surface of the roller towards the end, this felt looses its shape over time and lets the hair get in and do its damage. I have had to replace the roller twice and am not looking for solutions to replace the felt with something a bit more sturdy.

I had the same problem with my vacuum. I called in for technical service and was told to push the "reset button". It turns out that there is a small red button right next to the dirt indicator light. I pushed the button, plugged the vacuum back in and started it up and it worked like a charm! :) Hope this helps!

I checked the vacuum hose to see if there was a clog. 1st, disconnect the hose from the unit so you have access to both ends. Now, place a marble or other ball in one of the hose and see if it will make it all the way through. I found a major "hairball" about 8-10 in down from the vacuum end. I took a metal cloths hanger and bent it in half and did a "roto-rooter operation. It took about 30 minutes, but now it runs like new. I hope this works for you.

SOURCE: Capture bagless not sucking!
Both ends of the hose will unscrew, allowing you to push out hair and fiber clogs with a broomhandle. There is a coarse filter above the dustcup which will release with a 1/4 turn counterclockwise, allowing you to remove the hair and fiber bundles trapped in the inlet. The filter below the dustcup also tends to clog. Anything more and you have to start getting out the hand tools. firstname.lastname@example.org
