What size of screws/bolts do I need to mount the base to the TV?

It uses metric machine screws. You may have to spend some time at your local "big box" store searching for the right hardware, BUT length is important from a safety perspective. Insert a toothpick in one of the holes and mark where it is flush at the top. Take your toothpick to the store and match length with the M4, M6, etc. screws you will be sorting through.

A large screen TV such as yours requires two people to place it screen down on a soft surface such as a blanket for hardware installation. Be sure to tighten the screws firmly. Enlist the same two people (or designated alternates) to lift the TV and place it where it should be located.

I would like to remove the pedestal or stand from a LG 42LG70 TV because I want to place the TV on a wall mount.

Usually the safe way to do this is look first at the owner manual but lay set face down on a padded surface so all weight is on the frame around the screen and no weight on the screen itself, exert no downward pressure in that position or screen may be damaged.

Usually pedestal is secured by 4 or more screws that may require the back cover of the set to be removed first, to get at---a careful look with it face down will show if part of the pedestal is under the rear cover of the set or not.

I can't remove the stand off the tv

Hi, i have instruction on removing your base stand.

Removing the Pedestal Stand
1) Carefully lay the front of the unit face down on a flat,
cushioned surface such as a quilt or blanket. Leave the stand
protruding over the edge of the surface.
Note: Extreme care should always be used when removing
the pedestal stand to avoid damage to the LCD panel.
2) Remove the jack pack cover on the back of the TV to expose
the pedestal stand screws. The jack pack cover can be removed
without tools.
3) Remove the four screws shown in the diagram below. This will
allow removal of the pedestal stand.
4) Once you have removed all four screws holding the pedestal
stand in place, remove the pedestal stand from the TV by
sliding the pedestal stand away from the TV.

Try to mount TV to the wall and need to release the TV stand

To Display your LCD TV using a Wall Bracket:

If you decide to wall mount your LCD TV, always use a ULlisted wall bracket appropriate for the size and weight of the LCD TV: 32HL37/32HL37U/32HL17/32HL17U: 38.6 lbs (17.5 kg)

37HL17: 46.3 lbs (21.0 kg)

42HL17: 59.5 lbs (27.0 kg)
1) CAUTION: Two people are required for installation.

2) Unplug and remove any cables and/or other component connectors from the rear of the TV.

3) Follow the instructions provided with your wall bracket. Before proceeding, make sure the appropriate bracket(s) are attached to the wall and the back of the TV as described in the instructions provided with the wall bracket.

4) After attaching the appropriate bracket(s) to the wall and the back of the TV, remove the pedestal stand from the TV as described below.

What is the screw hole size in back of tv

The screw holes are metric. The set is supplied with M5x25 screws to attach the pedestal, so the wall mount screws will be in that same range.

Removal of flat screen pedestal so I can wall mount tv

Had the same issue. I turn the unit upside down and while holding panel down just pulled staight up on the base. The circular base popped off without any damage. I just needed to remove for shipping.so I didn't have to remove the cylindrical post. Once the base is removed you can see a screw that probably attaches that cylinder to the unit. Carefully removing it should work. Good Luck....j
