Dryer does not start. I can hear the hummof it receiving power and have changed the motor and door switch.

Hi, I would check the white thermo fuse to see if it's blown. If the thermo fuse it bad it will keep the motor from running. Without a model number it's hard to give much detail, but here is a video that should be similar to your whirlpool dryer that shows you how to replace a thermo fuse. Most all Whirlpool Dryer thermo fuses are white in color. They show the most common one in the video, but your could be a little different shape too.

My kenmore 90 series dryer won't start

could be one of two things,, the safety switch in the door is bad, but more than Likely its the thermo fuse in the rear of the machine,, a blocked or clogged vent tube will cause this so check that too

I have a maytag electric dryer it wont start on and the light does dont come on when door open i checked thermo fuse it tested good any other ideas

Did you pay the electric bill?
Seriously the door switch must be broken or stuck in the IN position. Seen it. Some repair info with pictures and locations of hidden safety devices.

Dryer wont start,

HI, check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

**The most common issue here will be a defective Thermal fuse

Dryer won't start

Does the unit have power? Have you physically turned the breakers off and then back on? Have you checked that the dryer cord is good? Have you checked that the outlet has not shorted out? If you have check all these things and it still won't start then it can either be a bad door switch or the on/off switch is bad.

LER331SRO Frigidaire electric dryer won't come on!

Check the voltage on the door switch, you can even jump the wires and see if it comes on, if not then replace the swiitch, Sounds like the door switch or the fuse. Door switch first though
