My 2003 skidoo summit runs fine but hand warmers don't work and the tach and speedo work intermittent. Any ideas on what to do.

Damaged wiring and/or dirty or corroded wiring connections or switches seems likely.

A wiring diagram would be a help in tracing the circuit of the hand warmers and during the process other problems will probably become obvious. It is easier to start by tracing a permanent fault than intermittent faults.

· Symptom: No Convergence, Picture is bowed and distorted, colors don’t align.
The Fuse for the convergence power supply has blown
You'll also notice that the convergence settings have disappeared from the on screen menu. The fuse likely blew because of a fault on the convergence board. If you've never done soldering or dismantled a TV before this is probably not the best place to start. The back cover needs to be removed and the fuse (see picture) identified, the deflection/power supply board needs to be unplugged (label or mark all connectors beforehand) and flipped over and the fuse checked/replaced. You need a soldering iron and solder ****** or solder wick and a multi-meter to check the fuse. If you want to tackle it yourself see attached image for reference or get a quote from a repair shop (approx $200-$300 Total) the convergence board may also need repair.

  • Symptom: Dead Set - TV Tries to Start or intermittent dead.

The set could be in shut down mode due to a fault detected in the power supply, vertical or horizontal deflection circuits.
The common problems with this chassis that will cause a dead set or intermittent dead set symptom are, bad power supply capacitors, bad flyback, bad HV cap in horizontal output circuit and cold solders (on opposite side of board) especially under the flyback area. To gain access to replace any of these parts the back cover needs to be removed and the deflection/power supply board needs to be unplugged (label or mark all connectors beforehand) and flipped over.
These are only the most common problems and it could be any number of other faults.
If you have electronic (TV) repair experience check the items mentioned (see picture), otherwise it's best to seek a qualified RCA tech for an estimate/service call.

· Symptom: Erratic operation of set – turns off by self, the volume or channel changes by self or on screen menu appears intermittently.

Switches on the front panel assembly (FPA) problem.
What happens with this model is the FPA switches (one or more) start to conduct just as if someone was pressing the buttons. This in effect locks up the system control or causes it to initiate erratic commands.
The way to determine if the FPA is bad is to remove it by unplugging from set. This requires front panel disassembly.
Note: The remote will still work with the FPA removed so the set can be tested.

Hope this helped, johnnydiode, Fixya.

What is the reason behind an intermittent electrical fault and engine failure

It is a difficult one to answer because it is intermittent and probably will not happen during a fault finding test. Intermittent faults in electrics generally are a result of bad earths ,rusted earths , loose battery terminals and cables into the terminals ,battery posts and terminals not shiny clean, loose connections in the harness, loose fuses holders and fuses harness connecters being dirty at the contact points and an electronic unit that has an internal (ECM) fault that occurs when the road is rough, bumps . For your problem I would be checking that all the connections into the ECM are clean and the connections are tight . Battery terminals and loose wires on the alternator. And one that happens sometimes ,heavy keys hanging from the ignition switch will sway back and forth and momentarily disconnect the run circuit. IT has been known to happen . So I think to be fair to the person doing the diagnostic check it would be akin to looking for a needle in a haystack while wearing brown coloured glasses. When it happens try to be aware of the exact circumstances at the time , how long the car was in operation, weather conditions (hot-cold), What you had working at the time (radio, lights , cigarette lighter, wipers what ever). Anything may seem unimportant at the time but may point to what is happening and so help the mechanic /electriciaan

Dash lights intramant panil out

Intermittent faults rob years from our lives!!! I've rather a root canal to intermittent fault isolation!! Chapter 11 of Murphy's law reminds us simply checking various spots will cause the fault to disappear until you really need to go somewhere.

Could be a loose or dirty connection so check the fuse box, even if the fuse look good remove clean it and replace. Hopefully you can easily get to the back w/o removing the entire panel. Change the bulb.

Finally is it is a current year model let the dealer do it, should be covered(or not disallowed).

My Dell All in One Inspiron One 19 will not power on!

Dell Inspiration One 19A Dead - Repair

Face down. Remove the plastic panel covering the sockets at the back. Remove the stand, 4 small black countersunk screws. Turn over and unclip the bottom panel. Unscrew the plastic piece across the computer under that panel. The escutcheon around the screen should now unclip. Unscrew ~8 screws around the edge holding the back to the metal-work. Carefully invert, face down, and lift off the back. The power supply is in the middle. Another bottom piece of metal may need to be unscrewed first. Remove the cover from the power supply. Four screws hold the PC board in the power supply box.
Two green 820 uf, 25 volt capacitors are likely to have bulged tops.
Replace them anyway. Reassemble after testing.

Where can i find the process to change a D410 inverter

If the screen on your laptop is dimming or not working at all, the fault may lie in the Dell Latitude D410 Inverter --the device that powers the screen's backlight. Replacing an Dell Latitude D410 LCD inverter will require some finesse, but you do not need a technical background. If you are comfortable with opening up your laptop, then this is a do-it-yourself project.
1. Unplug your laptop and remove the battery pack.
2. Locate the rubber screw covers around your laptop screen. There are typically four, but some models may have more.
3. Remove the screw covers. Take care not to lose any. They pop off and, if you are not careful, could go flying.
4. Place your fingers between the front bezel (the plastic piece around the LCD screen) and the screen. Gently work your way around the screen to remove the front bezel and expose the screen assembly.
5. Remove the inverter from the screen assembly. It is held on by tape in most models. In some models the Dell Latitude D410 Inverter may be right at the bottom of the screen assembly, below the actual LCD. Other models have the Dell Latitude D410 LCD inverter behind the screen. To disassemble the screen, you will need to either unscrew the screen from its metal holder, or just lift the screen out to expose the inverter.
6. Disconnect the wires leading from the Dell Latitude D410 Inverter. One wire goes to the backlight, while the other goes to the video card.
7. Look on the back of the Dell Latitude D410 LCD inverter for a model number or serial number. Having this exact number will make it easier to order a replacement.
8. Connect the video wire and the backlight wire into the new inverter and affix it using the tape that held the original in place. If you do not have that tape anymore, or it has lost its adhesiveness, you can buy more from computer parts retailers.
9. Put the screen back in place if you need to, and snap the front bezel back on.
10. Screw the front bezel screws back in, and place the screw covers back in place.

Intermittent fault when using sky+ box. Picture changes to red. Freeview pictures are OK as are the remaining analogue pictures. Scart lead changed and fault cured for a while then, back to the red screen

The most likely culprit is a poor connection between the two. Try reseating the cable between them when it happens, or try a new cable.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

Hello,The board may have a fault code led light that blinks a series BEFORE you shut the unit off/on(helpful in pointing you in a direction)there may be a peephole to see the lite in the door as there is a door switch inside that will reset the board erasing the fault.Intermittent problems are the pressure switch more often than not.
