Unfortunately, handsets are not universal for Uniden cordless phone systems. The accessory handset for the EZX290 is compatible with the DECT1500, 2000, 2100, 300 and 2900 DECT 6.0 phone systems. I wish that I had better news for you. Unfortunately, the two systems (EZX290 and D1660) don't use same handshake codes.

The DCX160 is the part number for the accessory handset used with Models D1660 and D1680 and a few others models. The handset used for these series are all interchangeable and has the same keypad function. You can reference the information for the DCX160 using the handset for D1660 Following is the link for the D1660

By "Voice Mail" you mean the Answering Machine part of the unit, I am going to assume.

There is nothing in that manual about a "seven digit code", but it does show you how to re-register the handset with the base. That might be the ticket to success.

Your telephone number is a "seven digit code".

Your HP Deskjet D1660 printer belongs to the HP Deskjet D1600 printer series. That means, the disk you have is for all the printers of the D1600 family, including yours (D1660), so you will not have any problem with the software it includes.

Follow the instructions beginning on page 9 of the manual.

The Uniden D1660-2 isn't an answering machine. If you have a separate answering machine connected to your phone line, please consult its documentation. If you subscribe to a voicemail system offered by your phone company, please contact them for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

You need to contact your telephone company for instructions on setting up and using their voicemail system. The Uniden D1660 doesn't record voicemail, though it can tell you when you have voicemail waiting.

To exit the silent mode, press and hold # on the handset for about 5 seconds. In the future, when you set the silent mode with this press and hold routine, you can follow it by a number (1-9) to set a specific length of time for the handset to be silent. Otherwise it will stay on until you manually turn it off.
