well, you didn't say what operating system you are using i assume you are using windows xp. to install it you should not have any problems first make sure you connect the usb cable to your printer and to your computer then turn the the power on the printer and your computer should pick it. if you have all the current microsoft updates it will most of the times install the driver and you will get a message that printer is ready to use. if windows xp does not find the driver it will ask you for the driver. you say that looked on hp website and didn't find anything, well i did a search on their site and found a driver and an appliction software. copy and paste the link below to your browser and should take to the download of the software and driver just chose your operating system and it will take to the other link click on the red tab download and save it for just in case after it finshes downloading click on run if you have your printer pluged in when u run this file it recognize and install without no problems. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?&lang=en&cc=us&pnameOID=14925&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=25470&lang=en&cc=us http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=14925&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=25470&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=228

The printer primes and cleans the cartridges when the cartridges go to the right side of carriage. Sounds like a cartridge has either leaked or you have used it enough the the ink pool is full, or you have layed the printer on its side or back. From experence, if ink is leaking out of the printer, your probley better off getting anithe printer. I have tried to take the covers off and clean inside print, and it is a messy job.

if the band is white, you may have a problem in your laser scanner assembly, if the band is black, you may have a problem in your fuser assembly
