Depending what bed you're talking about. I have several beds, one placed where he can sleep in peace and feel safe and / or a place where he can be close to you. And it's always nice to put a window perch for kitty for cat nap, sunlight and entertainment.

Put the bed next to a window so he can look outside, but make sure it's in a spot where he can also watch you from a short distance.

There are cat beds made from plastic, fabric, wicker, and soft materials. I personally avoid wicker baskets because they tend to get destroyed pretty quickly and can be a pain to wash.

When should I buy an orthopedic bed for my cat?

In general, orthopedic beds should be bought for older cats with joint problems and overweight cats that are likely to get arthritis in the future. Basically, the orthopedic beds put less pressure on the joints, which increases the quality of life for the cat.

I can't get my cat to sleep in the bed I bought her. It is so comfortable, yet she doesn't seem to want to go to it. What can I do?

Unfortunately comfort is not what will get the cat to the bed (although it may keep it there). The trick to getting your cat to go to its new bed is location. Look for a quiet place with not too much foot traffic from family members, but in view of household activities.

Making a bed for your cat can be a lot of fun. I found you a great tutorial on YouTube that should be very helpful. Happy crafting!

How can I wash my cats bed?

Firstly you should try and remove the cat hair from the bed - I use my vacuum for this. Then you should remove the material cover from the foam filling. You can now put it in your washing machine. Do not put it in with your clothes! You can hang it out to dry and then put the cover back on and hey presto!
