SOURCE: Westinghouse ceiling fan

Try "oiling the fan" and also if that doesn't work, change the fan.

SOURCE: i installed a dimmer for

First thing I would do is check the connections inside the Unit the ones you made while installing make sure that all connections are tight and well insulated if this was not the problem return the unit for a new one hopefully it is just a faulty unit as this can sometimes happen.

Thumbs up if helpful feedback is appreciated!!!
Good Luck!!!

Don't have a manual - bought the floor model. Can we adapt the ceiling fan that is designed to be suspended into a flush mount? Have Westinghouse 52SGD or 72458 is also noted on the fan. Thanks for your...

Floor model of a ceiling fan ... think about that for a minute!

I have to say no, you cannot do this. It may be possible but not without a lot of pain and extra expense. I have installed hundreds of fans. You may possibly be able to shorten the pipe that holds the fan but to actually mount it to the ceiling? You will have to have the ceiling hardware to do this. There goes the price benefit even if you can find the proper adapter/ceiling hardware.

Try shortening the pipe that suspends. You may find joy there.

Thanks for your question today. And thanks for the smile ... floor model ceiling fan :-)

I just purchased a westinghouse 3-speed fan switch 77021. How do I open the switch? Do I need a special tool?

I do not understand why you would want to open the switch. Are you asking how to get to the switch inside the fan housing? If so, you access the switch by removing either 2 screws on the bottom or 3 screws on the side. You remove the switch by unscrewing the brass finial holding the switch in place by turning counterclockwise. You need only a phillips screwdriver and no special tools. WARNING: Before you disconnect any of the wires write down how they are connected and make sure you have the right switch for your fan. They are not all the same. Need a cover for a westinghouse fan as we want to remove the lights

You can usually find stuff like that in the fan section at Home Depot or Lowes. A local ceiling fan/lighting specialty shop will certainly have a cover. Look in the yellow pages for shops in your area.

How do I change the frequency on the remote and the ceiling fan? We are on the same frequency as our neighbour.

You'll need to find the dip switches. The dip switch for the remote is inside the battery compartment. You usually have to remove the batteries to see it. The dip switch for the fan is usually on top of the motor. It can also be inside the switch housing or the ceiling canopy. You can set the switches to any combinationan as lonf as they are the same for both.

If by a 3-way switch, you mean a switch with 4 steps of brilliance: off, low, medium, and high when used with a 3-way bulb. The black wire of the switch is connected to incoming power wiring hot wire. Most often also black. The red switch wire connects to the center contact of the lamp socket. The blue wire connects to the small pin connection that is physically between the center connection and the screw shell of the lamp socket. The screw shell is connected to the incoming white wire of the house wiring.
