If your lan card is faukty then you have to replace the LAN card. But as regards the USB ports not functioning the best thing to do is to install the usb drivers for your PC. When you install the USB port drivers for the PC the PC will be able to accept plug and play USB internet modems. The drivers for your usb port can be located when you go to device manager select USB ports and it will take you to the drivers for the ports. Hope this solution has been helpful?
Check if the LAN cables are connected properly, make sure that client PC's have handycafe client installed and connected to the hub/switch with the server PC.
In some cases wherein the server has two LAN Cards installed, make sure to choose the LAN Card which is connected to the hub/switch where the client PC's are also connected during the initial start-up of the Handycafe software.
Note: Check if the hub/switch or router (whichever you're using) does not have a problem.

the device manager to see if there is any conflict between the laptop
and the internal speakers, if there is conflict try and resolve it, the
check the speaker drivers, ,then adjust the sound levels and test the
speakers, If they still dont work, take the laptop in for service...
The most likely culprit is the cable you are using to connect the desktop to the router.
The networking icon with the red X is your computer telling you the network card is not physically connected to a functioning port. Either the cable is bad or one of the ports (your computer's or the router's) has a physical or electrical problem. Try using the laptop cable and/or connecting to the port the laptop is connected to.
If the problem is something else, it is likely more information will be needed to diagnose and fix it (router model, OS version, whether a DHCP server is running, the network address of the router, the exact type and text of the icon that's telling you the network is disconnected).
In Windows XP, check in Device Manager (DM) to see if the NIC driver is installed. You can get to DM by right-clicking on My Computer, selecting Manage and then clicking on the DM line. If there is a driver problem, the NIC will show up with a yellow mark next to it. If it is just identified as a "PCI device" or something similar then you need to install the chipset driver from NVidia - you can get that from their website. Otherwise check if there is a separate NIC driver for your chipset; if there is, download it from the NVidia site & install it.
