Question about PLUS Vision Corp. U3 880 Multimedia Projector

PLUS U3-880. It stops after 10-12 seconds...

Hi, my name is Marco. I'm experiencing some troubles with my PLUS U3-880 projector. I have replaced the lamp, after having received it from an authorized dealer, so the lamp is really the original one. When I push the POWER button, the system starts normally, the lamp turns on and both the fans begin working. After 10-12 sec. the lamp turns off and the STATUS LED starts blinking in a slow way (the duration of the "on" position is 12 secs), the fans continue working. The manual says that there is something going wrong with the fans, but it is NOT true: the fans work perfectly as I said! Naturally, this failure puts the system in condition of not being able to serve any connections with PCs or other sources, except for few seconds. Please, could you help me to understand what really the problem is and if there is any solution you could suggest to me? Thank you hearty. Best regards. Marco

Noticed a yellow hue in the centre of the image projected by BOTH of my second-hand Sony VPL PX40's.

Bit of a common problem with Sony projectors of the era that they often had problems with fading and/or cracking of one or more the LCD panels - especially the blue ones for some reason, leading to the type of problem you are experiencing. No point in swapping components either as they will both have similar faults - although replacing an LCD in a video projector is almost impossible without the manufacturers jigs to mechanically align them afterwards anyway...

No Power

The problem may not necessarily be from the cable. It has to either be from the socket you plug it or the internal Power IC inside the projector. If your socket is working fine then you may have to take it to an experienced technical expert who will trouble shoot and diagnose the problem but since you said the projector is not powering, its likely the inbuilt power IC is damaged by maybe a surge in electrical current. Hope this helps... Cheers

My projector has had a new bulb intsalled comes on for 4 seconds and shuts down?

Did you use a genuine bulb ? Clones perform very bad.
Problem can be also inside the ballast unit ( lamp supply)
These units should be replaced completely, repair is even for experienced technicians 100% impossible.

When the projector warms up the picture starts to roll intermitently.

It is possible that your projector has the syncronisation fault in the video processor section. There is a possiblity that the chip is faulty or the corresponding allied cirrcuits have sprung up with some passive component weakness. What you can do is to open the set and warm up the areas near the main chip . Switch on the projector and if you notice the roll had stopped try do it to specific components and finally to the main IC .Replace when you are confirmed but attempt only if you are experienced or seek help to replace. Hope this helps. Good day

If you navigate through the projector menu you will most likely find an option to reset the filter timer. Resetting the timer will cause the indicator light to stop blinking.

Plus UP-1100 Lamp Hours Rest Procedure needed. The lamp is replaced but no menu option for resetting hours and Google provides no answer.

To reset the lamp timer on the Plus UP-1100, turn on the projector, press the menu key, navigate to the power menu, go to the lamp timer, then press and hold the "power on" button on the remote control for 20 seconds - you will see the timer reset to 0000.

I have a projector (SONY VPL-ES1) and the bulb stopped working. Took the bulb out, and not sure if it's blown or not. I checked online, to see if anyone else had similar problems, and sure enough they...

usually the projector powers and cools down. if you restart it it will open the cover, not projecting anything and after 10 seconds it will close again. this happens if the lamp is shortly before the end of the measured lifetime (no fixed hours) to protect the projector. usually if you take it out once or twice it will work for 1 or 2 more times but the bulb is very likely to explode (not destroying the projector but not good anyways)
