SOURCE: Pioneer vsx-d902s

Hi Tracey

Most of these older machine had speaker switches on the front panel. Can you check what they are set to. It may be that both switches(A and B) are set in, or set out. this could present the problem you are having with no sound. turn on just one switch that corresponds the connections you have made on the rear (use speaker A) Another thing to check, is when you first turn on the amp, do you hear a relay click shortly after you switch on. If you don't hear this delayed click, then there may well be a problem in the output stages of the amp. If this is the case, then you will need to take it to a tech to have a look and see what has failed in the amp. Hope this info helps, if you have any questions, I am happy to try and help you further.

regards
robotek

SOURCE: pioneer receiver vsx d814 amp error

The Pioneer VSX-D814 has a couple of Power Hybrid bricks that do all the power amplification. These are the infamous PAC011A. You should have 2 of those in your receiver.

If the amp detects some unusual activities, it may shut down the unit to prevent damage. “Amp Err” usually means some DC in the output.

Disconnect all the speakers and turn on the unit; if it acts normal, reconnect speakers one set at a time very carefully. If the unit still shows the error message you can try to reset it. If the reset works, again carefully reconnect the speakers connections. If the reset does not recover the normal operation of the unit, you may have one of the PAC011A damaged, and the unit will need repair.
The reset can be done by disconnecting the unit power cord for a few minutes, then plug it in and press “FRONT ENTER key + ADVANCED SURROUND key” continuously for 2sec.

Good luck

I have a Pioneer VSX-D412 reciever, and connot get my b channel to work. Only my A channel works, and I'd like to get both or all 5.1 working. And no I don't have the manual for the system.

In case you didn't see this on the other post, it is not the function of unpaid Fixya Experts to do the web searches for or read the manuals to those who can do it themselves. Most questions submitted to us would find answers immediately if they were typed directly into a search engine.

If you don't have the manual I recommend you get it. There may be other questions. A search for "Pioneer VSX-D412 manual" finds it.

What sources fail. How is it with test tones? have you isolated (swapped) the speakers?

Here is the service manual if you should ever need it. http://www.kallhovde.com/pioneer/tricomp/Audio/VSX/VSX-D412_RRV2727.pdf

My pioneer VSX-1016 shuts itself off during loud portions of a movie. I have checked the speaker wiring and have clean connections. Any other ideas?

Yes, evaluate the load presented to its amplifiers by the speakers. If you have any speakers running parallel on the amps instead of one per amp channel you could be experiencing temporary unacceptable drops in impedance.

and

From page 57 in the manual...

• Turn down the volume.

• Lower the 40 Hz and 125 Hz equalizer levels in the Manual MCACC setup on page 34.

• Try switching on the digital safety feature (put the receiver into standby, hold down the SYSTEM SETUP button on the front panel and press STANDBY/ON to switch between SAFETY ON and SAFETY OFF

. If the power switches off even with SAFETY ON selected, turn down the volume.

well you must config the surrond back speaker , check in operators manual how you do-it and pag.17 to 19 . please check for When “SB*” is selected in SPEAKERS setting mode,
the SURROUND BACK distance cannot be set.

so if you dont have check this site, who has the manual to help you how to config.

Pioneer VSX-505S Subwoofer Installation

That type of subwoofer is not used with this receiver. This receiver actually outputs no power for a subwoofer, therefore only needs a plain ol' rca signal wire. This is due to the fact that you need a powered sub... one that you plug in to the wall and it has its own built in amp. you simply run an rca from yyour 505s to that sub.
