SOURCE: Water filling does not stop
Water supply to the dishwasher is done through an electromagnet valve, loocated at the water pipe's enterance to the machine. A defect in the valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it, and the valve may leak and drip water into the tub.You can easyly open the valve and clean it (from scale or other dirt). Be aware you should disconnect the power cable from the machine before doing it !!!!! and as well to close water main tap to the machine. In case cleaning doesn't help, you should replace the valve. Good luck !!

SOURCE: IE error message
Hi, had the same problem on a LG LD 12aw5. (No water entering). Check the inlet solonoid. There should be 220V over the solonoid. I replaced the solonoid, at first, just to have the same problem. The problem was a bit more serious, the Triac driving the solonoid burnt out, and the solder on the mainboard keeping the transformer were shot to. I replaced the Triac, soldered the Transformer - and wolla - working. If water enters - but you sill get the IE error it could be the float(checks the water level). This device tells the machine when there is enough water. If this is stuck, the machine will think no water is entering. email@example.com - replace "_dot_" with "." to email me.

SOURCE: "E 1 code error
E1 is a drain error. On the unit prior to mar 07 LG had a problem with wires breaking in the door. Turn off power supply, remove door panel and look for wires stuck in the insulation. Check continuity of the wires, if broken, splice and tape. Place insulation between black insulation and wires to prevent reoccurence.

I had a LG certified repairman come out and fix. The electrical wires within the door were melted into the "tar" (sound deafening spray) and one wire actualy sheered. Apparently the drying cycle heats the tar and the wires become embeded and melt into the tar. This is what was causing the error code. After the wire was tested and spliced everything worked great. Long term...The door/electrical harness was replaced by LG.

I had the same problem on a 5 year old model. It was the main pump leaking from a perished seal causing the water protection microswitch to trip. This gives the symptoms you describe exactly. Parts cost from Miele was about £60 for a new seal. Fairly easy to fit.
