If the defrost timer went out there should be an error showing on the display (and you would not be able to change any of the controls). If this is the case, please respond with what is lighting up on the display.

Otherwise, with no errors and the unit continually freezing up it sounds like it is never going into a defrost cycle. This would mean that you have a bad main board that will need replaced.

567 is a defrost heater error. This means the unit is detecting that a defrost cycle is not being performed. Either the defrost sensor in the freezer compartment has opened up or, the main baord is not sending voltage to the defrost heater.

Even if the sensor is open, it could be from a stuck relay on the main baord. The normal procedure would to be replace both the main board and the defrost sensor at teh same time. Note: the defrost sensor is behind the back wall and attached to the right side of the evaporator.

Frigidaire side by side - replaced defrost timer. defrosts as should for a few days and then the evap freezes up. After advancing the timer to defrost cycle and powering off and on it will defrost properly...

Good day,
Sounds like a bad timer to me. Forget the tstat. Power comes from the power cord and goes directly to the tstat. The tstat sends the power to the timer where it is directed to either the compressor or defrost heaters as needed.
Recheck your plug connector to the timer carefully. I have installed many timers that did not work, or work right, right out of the box.
As well, to cover yourself, I would replace the defrost tstat which is located behind the rear panel in the freezer compartment.
It's a small round disk clipped to the top of the cooling coil, and is the component that is by far, the component that fails most often.
Check the connections to the main heater as well, while your in there.
The defrost tstat looks like this.

Whirlpool Mod ET18LKXHWo o Fridge not freezing,

Your defrost timer located inside the control panel is bad OR the defrost thermostat located on a freezer coil is bad.
Get down low and look up at the bottom of the control panel.
You will see a small round hole. Onside the hole is the defrost timer advance knob.
Use a flat blade screwdriver and SLOWLY turh the slotted knod clockwise until the refrigerator clicks off.
Wait a few minutes then open the freezer door and listen for a sizzling sound from the freezer compartment.
If you do hear a sizzling sound that would be the defrost heater melting ice.
If you do not hear a sizzling sound, unplug the refrigerator and remove the rear freezer panel to expose the cooling coil.
Clipped to the coil will be the defrost thermostat. It will need replacing.
If you do hear the sizzling sound the defrost timer will need replacing.

GE Profile - fridge not cooling

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

Freeze slite cool but refigerator is not cool at all

Sounds like a defrost system failure. This could be the freezer fan, heater, timer. You need an OHM meter.

You can manually defrost the freezer with a hair dryer that will get it working for a couple of days. Remember there is a lot of ice behind the freezer back wall, you can only see the tip of the iceburg.

Amana SXD23VE quit cooling 3rd time

wel there are 2 thermostats in this unit, a defrost thermostat(very common to go bad) but would mainly affect refig sect and the freezer only slightly, the other is a cold control thermo affecting both freezer and refrig, if this goes bad you get NO cooling, looking at the diagram for the refrig it has a defrost timer under the righthand side of the kickplate, i would try advancing the timer, with a screw driver you can manual turn the plastic gear on the timer( i believe on yours its problaby a pink knob. its possible that the timer has gone bad and the unit is stuck in a defrost mode, try turning it ever so slightly, youll hear it "clicking" as you do , it should "snap" into arun mode and everthy kick on for it is stuck in defrost(worth a try anyway)
