Question about Bose (321GS) System
I have an older Bose 321 system hooked up to an old Panasonic TV and for the
past year the subtitles on some DVDs will *not* turn off. I'm using the
original Bose remote and an identical replacement remote for the TV. All the
subtitle options are turn off but they continue to display on some DVDs. The
TV's CC option (Time Warner cable) is OFF, the Bose's DVD system setup for
subtitles is OFF, and the individual DVD movie menu for subtitles is OFF.
I'm wondering if there is some connection between the type of DVD format, although I haven't noticed the pattern if there is one. Any ideas? This is driving us insane!

SOURCE: Bose 321 won't turn on
I'm amazed at the range of comments regarding this system; they range from unbridled enthusiasm to some **** words.
Before I try to help, if I am not familiar with a specific model but have a clue to what the nature of the problem might be, I research the item to see if I find some support for my suspicion.
You might keep tabs on some comments I found relating to a possible class-action lawsuit due to the array of problems that have appeared with this system.
This link will give you a sample of them:

check the voltage setting on the power supply that connects the power cord to the media center. Mine was set to 230V. Changed it to 115V and the video starting working.

-If this happens on all DVDs, then this may need to be repaired (Bose will repair this for free if this is the case- they can test it too)
-If this happens on some or most DVDs, you can try a firmware update. Call Bose at 800-367-4008 and tell them about this. Request the most recent software/firmware update disc.
If you haven't already, just try resetting this first. (unplug the power cord from the acoustimass module for about 30+ seconds and try again)
If this happens primarily on rentals or home-made dvds, an update will most likely fix the problem.
