Question about Panasonic KX-T7636BK Digital Telephone System

1 Answer

Phone doesn't work, NO Link to base, move closer to base

Truth is the phone has always been in the same place, could batteries be dead so it's not getting a signal?

I didn't register anything, do you mean when I first purchased it? This is a two phone cordless set with a digital answering machine on the main base and neither phone will work.

  • mokilborn Jan 19, 2009

No, I can't find the manual. I'm still looking for it, but like I said earlier each of the phones say the same thing if you try to use them "No link to base. Move closer to base. Try again." So it's like they can't read the signal.

I tried to register but got an "error" and still won't work!

What is a TFT rating? It's working now! I already unplugged the adapter and plugged it back in and when I got your last message I was going to unplug everything but tried the phones first and they worked!!!! Awesome and thank you for your patience, I'm not very computer or phone savvy.

Glad it worked! We have these at home and about once a year they have to be reset.

Looks like I saved myself a TFT rating :-) I guess you can unplug everything, remove the battery from the handset, plug in the base, put batteries in the handset, power it up and try to register it.

    Outside of that.....

No, it's like they aren't registered.

Do you have a manual? Look at handset registration to the base.

    Did you reregister the handset?

Phone out of range

The phone has a predetermined limit on how far your phone can be away from its base. You have to either move the base closer to the phone or move the phone closer to its base. Weak batteries can cause this problem too. Batteries cannot be recharged forever. Replace the batteries with new ones.

No link to base, move closer to base, try again. This is the message on my phone and will not work, this phone is about 6yrs old, any ideas, I replaced the battery a couple of months ago. Please Help...

Unplug the power and phone cords from the wall outlet and let it sit for 30 minutes or more "the longer the better" This may reset the processor ic back into normal operation, if it fails! the only solution is replace your phone system, because the repair to your phone would not be cost effective.

Phone says no link to base phone stop working

Try unplugging the base unit and plugging it back in again. This is not guaranteed to help but has worked in the past.

No link t move closer to base try again base

this depends on what phone you have. most pjones when you open the back of the battery cover, their is a connect button really small. look around the base for a connect button and press the base connect button first, then the phone. after abit they should connect to each other. plaese let me know if this does not work

My cordless phone says No link to base Move closer to base - I have no dial tone - do i need a new battery?

This is the usual message that the phone gives when the battery has died and it has lost connection with the base unit. The usual fix is to remove and reinstall the battery, then place the unit on the charger for a full charge. This will usually fix the problem that you discribed. If after a full charge, you still get that message, you will most likely need a new battery. Good luck...

Handset can not link.
• If any handsets become inoperable, place it on the main base cradle for 20 seconds to re-register.
No dial tone
• Check or repeat installation steps
• Make sure the base power cord is connected to a working electrical outlet.
• Make sure the telephone line cord is connected to the base unit and the modular phone jack?
• Disconnect the base from the wall phone jack and connect another phone to the same jack. If there is no dial tone on the second phone, the problem might be your wiring or local service.
• The handset might be out of range of the base. Move closer to the base.
• Make sure the battery is properly charged (for 16 hours).
• Ensure the battery pack is installed correctly.
• Did the handset beep when you pressed the TALK/CALL BACK button? Did the in use indicator come on? The battery may need to be charged.

Move closer to base

Either the phone is not registered to the base unit or the RF module is broken. It could be a bad battery but unlikely unless very old or you have not charged it. You should check the manual for registering the phone to the base unit.
