Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on Action. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting and follow the instructions.

Here are the steps to use web cam on MSM:-
Log in to your account at the MSN Web site.
Locate the "Webcam" icon underneath your display picture.
Click the "Webcam" icon.
Select "Send My Webcam" to the person that you want to send your video to.
Wait for your chat partner to accept your Webcam invitation. Once he or she accepts it, your live video feed will begin.
Finish sending the video feed by clicking the "Webcam" icon once again.
Open the MSN Messenger program on your computer.
Show or Hide Your Webcam
Open MSN Messenger on your computer.
Click the "Tools" menu and then select "Options" from the drop-down list.
Locate the "Personal" link and click it with your mouse.
Find the "My Webcam" area and either select or de-select next to where it says "Allow Others to See That I Have a Webcam." This is handy for letting those in your chat list know whether you can have a video chat with them--whether or not they have Webcams.
Good luck, do rate the solution if got help
Hi Diana, Uninstall the cam & install it again. after that open my computer andopen the cam. If there your camera working properly then the camera & installation both are ok. After that try it in MSN & google video chat. Remember Msn always read inbuild camera for laptop. If its on in msn and same problem then there is some problem cames from MSN. For camera comfirmation you can login yahoo messenger and open the cam from there. IF you face same problem then the problem occur by internet connection. So you must check the internet connection after that all. Thanks & waiting for your feedback.

Performing all the above steps will configure MSN to use with the web cam. In order to start a video conversation, follow the steps given below after signing in MSN: (a) Click Action, then point to audio/video. (b) Then, click start a video conversation. (c) Select a contact from "My contacts" page then OK.

you aren't connected on some hp's you may have to redownload the drivers for the cam, thats what i had to do when I first got my laptop, also it must be completly turned off cause if your using it in another program it will recognize it as being inuse and it will not allow it to turn on. you have to manually turn it on through the messanger service options menu.
