Looks like you downgraded to XP, so first you need to install CHIPSET driver, download it from here

Other drivers you can try from Acer Support site, however these drivers are for Vista, but could work on XP to.

The rest of the drivers you can find your self, here is how:
1. Right Click on My Computer, Left click on Manage.
2. Click on Device Manager, you should notice on the right hand side icons with a yellow symbol next to them, this shows the device is unknown, or drivers are not installed.
3. Right click a device you are looking for, left click on properties.
4. Click on the Details tab on the top of the menu that popped up.
5. You should see some code in the middle that looks similar to this:
"PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_169C&SUBSYS_308&"
The important pieces are:
VEN_14E4 is Vendor 14E4
DEV_169C is Device 169C for Vendor 14E4

You can take this information to the website http://www.pcidatabase.com and find the specific device information for the drivers, then go to the manufacturer website and see if they make drivers for your OS, some hardware is OS specific and the manufacturer's do not have driver support for all OS's.

Hello,
Click here to download the driver.
Now install it on your windows 2000.

Note: Windows xp will automatically recognize your dongle without external driver. I personally recommend you to use xp

Hello mccree08,

The installed network adapters can be viewed in the windows device manager which can be accessed through the windows control panel as follows:

•Opening the Control Panel
The Windows Control Panel can be opened by:
Selecting Start > Control Panel (on Windows Vista)
- OR -
Start > Run > Type 'Control' and select OK (on Windows XP)

•In the Control Panel, Select Device Manager

•In Device Manager, Select 'Network Adapters'

The netgear wpn 511 adapter will appear there if it is correctly installed.

Have a great day,

Aspire 3000 laptop

Normally you setup a passkey or use 0000 or 9999 as a passkey.

The question is, does that pop up when you try to connect a USB device? Do you get that when you try to install the dongle? (That shouldn't happen). If you are trying to connect a PDA or cell phone, you setup the passkey for the connecting device on the computer then type it in to the PDA or mobile phone. If you are trying to connect a bluetooth headset, then you use whatever code is from the manufactorer. Normally this is 0000 or 9999.

Hope this helps!

Are you sure that you installed the windows xp drivers and not the vista drivers? There may be no xp drivers for your laptop, and if thats the case, you'll have to switch back to vista. Make sure you know 100% that its the xp drivers.
