Question about Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2008: Windows

Can't switch paid Norton Antivirus to new computer

Bought a new computer. The old one is crashing and has no Internet access so I cannot uninstall on there. That causes me not to be able to install my paid service on my new computer. It is paid through June 2009. Is there a phone number I can call to speak to someone? JMunger263@aol.com

you cannot install 2 anti virus in 1 OS. it might crash your os. uninstall old antivirus and then install new one. you can download the offline installers instead of the online installers.

Cannot uninstall Norton - get 'ERROR 9999.174' message.


Try to start your windows on safe mode.
To do it restart your computer and press F8 button before windows logon appear then you will start windows on safe mode.
After you start windows on safe mode go to control panel again and try to remove it.

Installing new Norton Antivirus on Previous Norton installed


Hi,

You can directly install your new application.
It will automatically search for previous one and uninstall/upgrade the new application.

My personal opinion on this is that you are unlikely to be able to move the account; given the problems I have had with norton in the past, I wouldn't try; but would instead use the free or Home editions of Avast! or AVG Antivirus.

Trying to remove Internet Security to install Norton AntiVirus


Click on Start button
Click on Control panel
Double Click on Add and Remove program
Look for Norton Internet Security and Uninstall it.

Checking on regisrty

Clcik on Start
Click on run
type regedit
Double click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Double Click on software
Look for Symantec Folder then delete that folder
Restart your computer.
Try installing your new program.

Uninstall the trial antivirus 2008


go to google.com and input in the search bar: norton removal tool

download and run the tool and then restart and install new version.
