Do other wireless laptops connect to your wireless router, and give good speeds? Do you have many wireless networks, other than your own, that show up when you try to connect? It could be interference from other wireless networks in your vicinity.

My ipad 2 will connect but the load time is very slow

Your throughput (speed) is limited by the speed of the service from your provider. Additionally, this speed is divided or shared with every device connected via network cable and devices that are connected wirelessly, too.

To make matters worse, while the wireless N standard provides a faster speed, it only does so at a closer distance. When further away from the router, you may actually get better speed by connecting to the G side of the router (assuming you have G enabled).

Proper router configuration is key. Make sure you haven't locked it down to a slow speed. Install additional wireless access points or upgrade antennas with those that offer higher gain to provide good coverage in your home / space. Locate the wireless routers and access points closest to the areas these drevices will likely be used. Avoid installing in basements, behind brick and concrete walls. Aluminum siding can thwart a signal pretty well, too. Unplug / replace cordless phones that run on 2.4GHz - they can rob bandwidth from your router in the form of interference. Select Ch 1, 6 or 11 for the least interference from other wireless devices as long as they are not already in use by someone close by. Protect your WiFi by NOT broadcasting your SSID and be sure to lock it down with WPA or WPA2 security and a password that does not appear in the dictionary. This will help keep others from stealing your WiFi bandwidth.

All of these suggestions will either increase your throughput / speed or provide additional security and prevent others from stealing your bandwidth. I hope they help!

somebody is accessing your wireless network and getting free internet service from you unless you had setup a wep security! if you have an un-secure network then anybody with a wireless adapter can access your network and access your internet free and drag down the speed of your internet connection.
however, if you do have wep enabled and there is more than one computer connecting then this will slow your connection down as well. please remember that there are some games and gaming sites that are bandwidth hogs and will slow down other computers connection on the same network. also watching streaming videos and gaming at same time can slow down connections as well.

if the wireless light is lit up in red it says "someone is trying to connect to your network using wrong password"
Sometimes if any of your devices are not compatible with the security enabled in the router then the light will lit up in red. click here to know more about security types of belkin router
routers has to be turned off atleast 2 hours per day for it to work properly... so better turn off the router when not in use, this will clear the routing table of your router and will make the router to work as a fresh router everyday, so you wont face any speed problems.

Are you trying to connect the laptops via wireless? Is that where you are seeing 75 mbps? I am assuming you are, and 75 mbps is really not how fast your internet connection is. Rather, that is how fast you are transferring data from your laptop to the wireless router and back. Generally speaking, this should be a way faster connection than your internet is running at. Chances are your internet connection speed is 10 to 20 mbps, which is good and fast.

It is easy to get the two confused, but basically a wireless connection of 75 mbps is an uber fast connection to your wireless router, and only if your actual internet connection was faster than that 75 mbps would you see any slowness due to that.

Wireless N routers are capable of delivering up to 100 mbps connection speeds, but again that is only from your device to the router. The router then goes to your modem and out through the internet. Chances are that connection is not 100 mbps because of interference, which can be walls, other wireless devices, etc.

One way to test your actual internet connection speed is to go to www.speedtest.net and click on one of the links on the map. This will tell you how many mbps you get to the internet.

Slow internet download speed from my edimax ew 7206 access point

You dont say what internet access technology you are using - DSL, Cable Modem, satellite, etc.
It is possible that your aggregate speed is being throttled by excessive traffic somewhere ELSE in the network and it may have nothing to do with the link from you access point. When you reset it, it may attempt to operate at the maximum speed only to be throttled by some other choke point in the network.
When you reconnect and get the 4-5 speed, how long does it last? Can you actually see the difference in performance? Most people cant tell the difference unless they are downloading large files.

Slow connection

Your slow connection could be affected by poor location wireless router (therefore poor signal strength), electrical interference, or even someone else with a wireless router transmitting on the same channel as your wireless router.
Try relocating your router away from solid walls, and/or move your computer or router to another location.
If your connection speed varies, could be electrical interference with appliance/s in your house, turn off all appliances, test your internet speed connecting then turn on one appliance at a time to determine which appliance is at fault (could have a faulty capacitor in the appliance)
