how to tell:
have you got a spare monitor? plug the spare monitor into the (right) side of the laptop as i have done in the image:
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/1439/15...as BillW50 has stated, once external monitor has been plugged in, press the combination of Fn and F4, this should switch the display to the external monitor you have just plugged in. If it doesnt work the first time, try the combination a few times as there are different modes for the Fn+F4 (such as LCD only, LCD + external, external only, external 1 + lcd 2....ect)
if you get a picture on an external monitor but not on your laptop, then the most likely problem is with your laptop screen itself, which it is most safest to take to a computer/laptop repairs specialist.
If you DONT get a picture on the external monitor, the scenario seems most likely in the computer's Graphics Card/Display Unit. A malfunction there is most likely causing a no picture or no signal to the LCD.
In my situation, a picture had lasted on the Laptop's screen for about 10 seconds, then a very muddled up screen, then no picture, this was the result of the LCD within the laptop as you can see i have plugged in another computer screen to test my above theory.
hope that can help you
