Yesterday the water to my washing machine froze. Since the lines thawed the hot water continously runs to the machine even if the machine is OFF. Do you have any idea which part might have been damaged by the freeze

h2o is the chemical symbol for water. But if the water keeps running and does not stop, even when the machine is full it could be the machine has a defect level indicator, or the water lock does not work. When the lock even don't closes what you remove the power the lock is defect.

If your FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW has water flowing water with the power off or water fill cycle has ended then your water valve is stuck open.I’m sure crud in the valve seats preventing the washer water valve from seating. The water valves are sealed units and need to be replaced.I Haven’t had to replace yet but I will post links to the SM and parts replacement link. See this post for possible issue with a new substitute 12002242 part replacement. The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

Try this first..Same thing happened to me yesterday..
I pulled the washer away from the water source..unscrewed the water lines from the water intake (not the washer)..there is a screen in the both hot and cold ...my screens were filled with debris..after cleaning the screens the washer works just fine..try this easy fix before you start looking into things like the motor or a switch somewhere...
it sounds like you have a leaking water valve, you will have to replace the mixing valve, For now turn the water off at the wall suppling water to the machine. When you want to use the washer turn on water, when its done with the cycle turn the water off.
Note: unplugging the machine will not stop the water from running
Is the hot water hot that is coming to the washer? Are you using the correct settings on the unit? If yes to both then either the solinoid water valve is bad or the timer switch unit is bad. Try going to a totally hot water setting. While turning on the machine feel of the hot water line at the machine and see if you notice a buzz or feel a click as you turn on the machine. On this setting does water run in and is it hot or cold. If water runs and it is cold try going to a total cold setting and see if you get cold or hot water. Is this a new setup or has it been working and stopped? If new, you could have the hoses connected backward. If you get water in both hot and cold settings but cold both ways then your hot water heater is not working....let me know....
