Question about Kenwood DV-605 Multi-disc DVD Player

Open Question

When I insert a DVD into the player I get a "disk error" msg

The owners manual does not cover this. Is it a matter of reprogramming something or more like an electrical problem in the equipment?

Try the following
when the error is on the screen, press the number 1 key on the remote, this should take you to the fist chapter of your DVD no matter which region it is

All the dvds I insert are reading disk error.

Sounds like it is time for a new unit. your problem is not worth fixing as it is either a failing laser pickup due to age, or the laser beam is caked with tar from smoking.

New blurays are quite inexpensive.
Please dispose of the unit responsibly.

I get insert disc error on my player. It sounds

More than likely this is an inner system malfuction of the dvd player the owner can try buying and using a cleaning disc for the dvd player, but if that does not correct the problem it is probably beyond his ability to self repair.

No disk error

If cleaning with a cleaner disk and solution did not work, then you have to clean the lens directly.

Remove the cover and access the inside of the DVD, unplug power first.

Use soft cotton sticks and isopropyil alcohol to clean the lens, here is a picture of the lens pickup:

As usual do the job at your risk, if you want to call for repair you can use the number listed in the owner manual.

you have dirty lens, try to cleaning with 100% cotton buds. or you have damage laser eye, or broken flex ribbon wire, but first you have to do is to cleaning the lens with cotton buds.. if not reading after you clean the lens! change the laser eye and flex ribbon wire.
