Question about Kenmore 24 in. 15932 Built-in Dishwasher

No water coming in

Hello, I have a builtin Kenmore dishwasher model number 665.15882. Just recently it has not been working properly in that it doesn't seem to be drawing water into the unit. I cycle it on (normal wash) and push start and it seems to go through the normal cycle with the sensing light being lit and the cycle timer is on. But, no water is ever drawn into the unit. Any ideas? Thank you.

Might this issue have been caused by ice or something frozen somewhere within the dishwasher? The reason i ask is because we had a similar problem last winter. I pulled the dishwasher out and there was some ice in the water lines (the clear tubes). I was able to remove the ice and it worked fine after that. That wasn't the case this time (didn't find any noticable ice), but i pulled the dishwasher out again and let it sit that way overnite. The next morning i pushed it back in place and it worked fine. So I'm not sure, maybe some component had to thaw out first. This only happens if we get 3 or more days of extremely cold weather in a row, which was the case last week. Appartently, there is not much insulation in the wall where the dishwasher sits.

Check the float.
There is a float inside the dishwasher but you can't see it. The small dome in the bottom has a float inside that activates a switch underneath by a plunger. Sometimes this float gets stuck in the up position. Take the bottom panel off and look directly under the dome for the switch and the plunger that activates the switch. Push this plunger up to see if it moves freely. If it moves then you need to check the switch then the water valve solenoid with an OHM meter. Next, use the meter to see if the timer is sending power (110) to the water valve.

If everything is good to this point then check the water supply. Turn the water supply off, disconnect the water line from the dishwasher water valve, run a small amount of water into a pan.

Hope this helps.

Clean light keeps blinking; dishwaher won't turn on

Hello Brian, welcome to FixYa.
Based on your post I understand your dishwasher is a Kenmore and the clean light is flashing and it won't start, correct ?
If so, this is usually an error code indicating there was a problem in the heating process the last cycle it ran, however if you could provide the complete model number I could speak specifically to whether it applies to your machine and potentially what to do about it.
Thank you for choosing FixYa and I look forward to your reply.

The water seems to not be hitting the top row of dishes and the dishwasher has gotten louder, end result not cleaning the dishes

Best to chck the water pump which could be partially blocked and not sending water to the top spray feed.

It would be helpful to have the full model number in order to identify the part numbers etc.

The top rack on my kenmore ultra wash 3 dishwasher does not come clean and now even the bottom is starting to not clean

First perform a vinegar cycle wash in the dishwasher. Pour a cup of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher. Keep the temperature at the highest setting possible and perform a wash cycle. Then start using a dishwasher most probably that would solve the problem. If this does not solve the problem then there must be some parts worn out or faulty creating the problem.

There are many probable causes of failure .

To clean the dishes the water temperature is essential. It the water is not hot then the dishes will not be cleaned properly. So check the water temperature.

Also check the filter in your dishwasher.Clean the filter if there is accumulation of debris in the filter

If you are in an hard water zone , then try reducing the amount of detergent used and then try cleaning the dishes.

There is not enough water pressure to properly operate. (House pressure is unchanged..)

Make sure you have the appropriate size inlet water line. if it is to small it won't provide the necessary amount of water. This is usually the problem, you may have a pump issue, but check the inlet line size first
