SOURCE: Condensation, operation paused, JVC Video Camera model GR-D70AS

If the camera becomes damp or cold and brought into a warm atmosphere damp forms in the mechanism which would cause the tape to stick and become damaged or fouled.

leave the camera to warm up for a few hours and the fault should clear.

If not the most common reason is the dew sensor has failed and needs replacing

SOURCE: transfer movie from mini tape to computer - JVC GR-D770U

Product called EasyCap, for about 15 bucks, "can be found online" Has USB plug. Use your cable that has the 3.5 pin that goes out to rca cable, yellow, white and red. EasyCap has the RCA to USB then to computer. Use Windows Movie Maker, comes with XP & Vista, capture while playing from there. I just converted about 20 full tapes from one cannon mini 8 and 15 from a jvc dv onto a TB drive.

SOURCE: JVC mini GR-D23EK Unit in SAFEGUARD mode E03 how to correct it

Hello. What I've found is that in dealing with the error codes your choices are very limited. You can try removing the battery and power supply for a while. This might clear the code, however, failing at that you'll be forced to send in the unit for repair--you are absolutely not alone in getting this type of problem--definitely get a quote first and keep "do I want to replace this unit" in the back of your mind....This is a JVC problem.---Rick

When in play mode the following error appears E03 Remove and reattach battery unit in safe mode

Hi,

As you have already removed the battery and re-attached it, try to clean the contacts between the battery and the camera.

I had tried this and it did not work so I tried Tapping on side of Camcorder ( gently on palm ) and I worked, after 2 or three times while message appeared.

Below are few reasons what causes E03 Error

1. The idler gear does not engage with the reel disk well.
2. Though the idler gear and reel disk are engaged with each other, the tape is not wound because of overload to the mechanism.
3. No FG pulse is output from the reel sensor.
4. No power is supplied to the reel sensor.
5. Tape transport operation takes place with a cassette having no tape inside.
6. The tape slackens and no pulse is produced until the slack is taken up and the tape comes into the normal

Ron

My camera is reading an E3 code and eating my tapes

Could be your reel has a problem or capstan gear is broken. To confirm if gear is broken, apply power to your camera and eject the cassette housing(with or without cassette) and take a look at your idler gear(found at the center of supply and take up reel) if it is rotating. It must rotate momentarily and stop. Good Luck

I have a JVC Compact VHS video camera, model GR-AX800 and it's beginning to eat my tapes. There's an error code, "E08" appearring in the viewfinder. Can you tell me what that means? ...

Either a belt has broken internally o is sliping enough to prevent the takeup reel from turning. This unit needs service. This is not a repair I would suggest you attempt unless you have worked on cameras before. The parts cost for this repair should not be more than $10. Check around for a service center that will work on JVC camcorders.
