You need to assign static IP on your dvr camera, then open the port(port forwarding) for your camera using the router's setup page.

How to find dvr ip address

Hi,
what do you want the DVRs local IP address on your LAN or your internets public IP address?

to see the local IP that the DVR is on, check the menu's in the DVR as if configured properly you should have it set up as a static IP on your LAN...

if you can not find it there, you should be able to log into your router and view connected devices... some routers are better than others, but you will probably only be able to see devices that are connected and assigned an IP address from your routers DHCP table..

if you want your public internet IP address then go to http://cmyip.com but in order to view your DVR from a different location on the internet you will need to set up port forwarding on your router - the DVR manual should show what ports need to be forwarded...

you may also want to consider using a dynamic DNS service if you do not have a static IP from your internet provider... most DVRs that I have encountered provide a dynamic DNS service..

Thanks,

How do i get the 3650 to recognize a different router? it was connected to the previous router, but we replaced the router

Did you configure the printer with a "static" IP-address?
Reconfigure the printer to use 'DHCP' (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol),
to automatically obtain a correct and valid IP-address from the new router.

Did you change the coper to static IP? If not then the copier is most likely still set for a dynamic IP. A dynamic IP means the number will change from time to time when the IP lease from the router runs out. Your computers are most likely set for dynamic also. This is not a problem and the use of dynamic IP's is very common.

If you print out a status page (also know as a configuration page) from copier/printer there should be a Host name listed along with the IP address. The host name is a name that always stays assigned to the network card (providing you don't manual change it). If you substitute the host name for the IP address when you are setting up the printer port the computer will always look for that name on the network when you send a print job.

The IP address and host name are both ways to find the proper device you are looking for on a network. Think of them the same way as a phone number. You dial your friends cell phone and it goes out over the cellular network looking for your friends cell phone once it finds your friends cell phone his phone rings. IP's and Host names work the same way.

Let me know if you need anymore assistance. If needed I can log in remotely and give you a hand.

How can i use my router?

On most cable systems you have "Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol".What that means to you is that you can simple plug your cat 5 cable from your cable modem into the router and another cat 5 cable from you router to your computers.

DVR camera system help

First, check what ports the DVR system uses, in GeoVision for example is:
80, 3550, 4550, 5550, 6550
So...
You DVR must be with Manual IP
And then, open the router management page and configure NAT settings, so that when someone in the outside network "calls" you ip+port, the router knows to which machine the "call" is...
Also... use some kind of dynamic dns service like DynDns or NO-IP so that people use an regular URL and not a IP address.

LINKSYS ROUTER

You need to know the ip address of your dvr. It might have a factory set ip address or a dynamic ip address from the router. You can then use this ip address to access your dvr.

If your dvr has a static ip, that static ip should be in the same range as the router's ip address so that the router can communicate with the dvr.

Remote access to DVR behind router

Hi Desi

I would like to give you step by step parameters to fix the problem. However there is no enough information. Model of DVR is important so we can know what kind of configuration it requires. Also your steps, What you have done so far? Have pinged the IP address of the DVR? usually DVRs doesnt require a special DNS configuration most of them works like IP cameras. If you provide the model info I can I can try to provide guidance accordingly.

Thanks

What is BOOTP/DHCP?

BOOTP stands for Bootstrap Protocol. DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. Both are mechanisms to dynamically assign an IP address for a TCP/IP client by the server. In this case, the Prestige 310 Internet Access Sharing Router is a BOOTP/DHCP server. Win95 and WinNT clients use DHCP to request an internal IP address, while WFW and WinSock clients use BOOTP. TCP/IP clients may specify their own IP or utilize BOOTP/DHCP to request an IP address.
