Possible there could be some loose connections on the panel board or the controller unit circuit which gets activated when the door is shut. Try to tap instead of opening the door to confirm a loose joint. If not it is related to a RESET fault within the controller , please check the door switch and connections to the controller.

SOURCE: Maytag Washer won't switch from rinse to spin

You have a bad lid switch. Before I retired Maytag had a lid switch kit that improved the switch that was originally in it. The problem would usually present itself if a person accidentally dropped the lid with a bang which would put the lid switch out of adjustment.

SOURCE: Spin Cycle

you can check the direct drive coupling between the motor and the transmission, if the coupling is good and not broken then you have a transmission problem

SOURCE: Washer doesn't spin or drain unless I open the lid.

hay this is a tougher one .i tried to find a wiring diagram but couldn't.so ill tellyou what im thinking.when it stops and you lift the lid and it gets going is the clue,we know motor ok it will spin .we know lid switch ok you replaced.sooooooooo take a look at your diagram and see what componets come into play by way of the lid swtch opening then closeing.some how power is diverting may be to timer..........wow you gave a pretty good report on whats going on.so im reading and the running it in my mind.you say it will agaitate until in off position.so im thinking how can that happen.there has tobe a contact point stuck.when unit gets to end of washs cycle it should pause and wait to empty then refill or spin if after rinse .the presure switch tells the timer that has been done, but if presure switch bad washer may over flow or not fill so it seams fine.thinking.......you could use the process of elimanation but that could be expensive.thinking.........could the presure switch hose be blocked ,fooling the system? clean blow out.there can be no water in it before the tub fills..........you can blow thru tube while attached to presure switch and with ohm meter make sure its switches are working........but check all you can to elimanate the eazy stuff and go from their.i hope ive been some help.you can email if any questions .God bless ,tom

My washer won't spin. it's been in storage for 5 yrs and ran just fine at that time

am thinking if all works good except won't spin, it is your lid switch. Under your washer lid you will notice a peg of some sort that when lidnis closed goes into a slot/hole and that triggers the spin cycle. That is in lamens terms know as a safety idiot switch. It is designed so when the washer is spinning at those high speeds,na child or not to smart adult does not open lid and put hand in while spinning. SO, if switch goes out, of course it won't spin. Switch is cheap , under 20 bucks at any appliance parts store, and they even can tell you at store how to putnin yourself by showing on one of there washers on display. Let me know if I nailed it!!

STYLEMATER 4214164, AGITATOR SEAMS TO BE STUCK,

are you sure it's aggitating?common problem with direct drive washers is the motor coupling breaks and the transmission can't engage with the motor or you could have a bad transmission.usually you'll find oil leaking out of the ******. you can check this and the coupling at the same time.one other thing, when in spin open the lid and then close it and listen for a clunk and see if it spins, that would be the clutch on the ******.if this happens see if you can get it to spin in any other cycles,i've had bad timers do this,if it spins near rinse but not in the final spin and if you open the lid, close the lid and then the clutch falls and it does spin i'd say you have a bad timer, you can watch the timer,if it moves all the way to end but it doesn't spin in the same spot on the final spin but does spin in any other cycle it's the timer.but check the coupling first.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K1KHEogf3c copy and paste,it will show you how to get at the coupling.

My top loading Kenmoore does everything but the spin cycle. What might be wrong?

Number 11 is the lid switch. Over time these simply fall apart. Your machine will allow the washer to wash with the lid open so you can add bleach after the wash cycle starts. But it won't allow the washer to spin unless the lid is closed. themobilian_265.jpgthemobilian_266.jpgthemobilian_267.jpgthemobilian_3.gifThe red circle is the lidswitch connection. 2 of them 3 wires is hot. The other one is bolted to the frame. Jump them 2 hot wires and she will run and spin out. This is for testing purposes.

Washer will not spin

Your neutral drain is not locking in.
Let the timer advance to the final spin cycle. Once there it should have about a 5 second pause and the transmission spin gears will lock in. If no pause replace the timer. If you have the pause and still no spin replace the transmission.
My bet is on the timer.

Sometimes won't start spinning cycle

In most cases, this is caused by a faulty lid switch.
