Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
The hammer on my typewriter won't strike. I don't know how to remove the print mechanism to replace the solenoid. I assume that is what the problem is. Any help?
If this is a Nakajima print head the print solenoid is on thr R. side of the head and the armatures crack and stop printing.

There is a plastic cap on the print solenoid plunger that is probably broken, they are available but a little tricky to install.

The hammer solenoid has either failed or the bumper on the bottom of the armature (on the solenoid to the lower right of the print mechanism has cracked and needs replaced. Hope this helps.....
