If your laptop have inbuilt bluetooth facility here's how
How to Set up a Bluetooth enabled device
To set up a Bluetooth enabled device,
you need to do three things:
Add a Bluetooth
adapter to your computer.
This is usually done by plugging the adapter into a USB
port. (If a Bluetooth adapter is already built in or attached to your
computer, ignore this step.)
Set up the device so that your computer can find it.
To do this, you must:
Turn the device on.
Make it discoverable.
To learn how to make a device discoverable, check the information
that came with your device or go to the manufacturer’s website.
Install the device.
To install most devices, such as a mobile phone, keyboard, mouse,
or personal digital assistant (PDA), you can use Bluetooth Devices in Control
Panel. If you have Bluetooth wireless technology installed on your computer,
follow these steps:
To install a Bluetooth enabled device
Click the Start button ,
click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Bluetooth
Click Add, and then follow the
Encryption features and a passkey can help to secure your data.
However, these and other security measures can be compromised or fail and, if
that happens, your data could be visible to or accessible by other devices or
computers within range. Therefore, Bluetooth wireless technology should not be
considered completely secure.
make sure you are within range, verify that your wireless adapter is enabled in the BIOS, reinstall the wireless driver, and make sure you are using the system with the AC adapter. check if any devices like microwave over are near. resetting your wireless router is another thing you can do.
You need to check if your wireless adapter is on by going to device manager and looking for wireless adapter etc, assuming you are using a windows o/s. You also need to check if you have switch on the adapter manually as many laptop provide a button or manual key to put it off for power efficiency reasons..Hope this helps and rate my answer. Thanks
1. this one is obvious but is probably best to check.. are your access points broadcasting the ssid? if not get that fix first or manually configured your workstation by entering the ssid you had configured in your access point with the respective pass/key
2. did you download the correct driver? check in device manager for any ! or ? next to your wireless adapter (network adapter) then do the following if any:
a. rollback to the previous driver by doing a driver rollback (device manager, device properties, driver tab) then test.
b. uninstall and reinstall the driver that you got from the laptop manufacturer, check the model is the same correct one.
hey, heres a list of things to try and the things that could be your problem.
check in control panel, system, device manager see if you see the wireless adapter is in there or if there is any tags with unknown device if there is drivers will need reinstalled, that would be your problem if update caused it.
other things to try is check the side of the laptop for the wireless on / off button or switch to double check the the wireless is turned on, there should be a light if it is.
if there is no meantion of wireless device, and you have tried to turn it on from the switch then its a faulty adapter..
Some access points have codes, your laptop has to be able to pick up a access point. But in 2012, There will be a thing called Wi-max which means Wireless internet will be all over the world no matter where you are. So you can go on the internet wherever you are as long as you can connect to someones access point.
