Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV255 Digital Camcorder
I have a Sony DCR-TRV255E, when I insert a tape to play it back, it plays for about 5 seconds and then get a message telling me to re-insert the tape. When I go to eject the tape it comes up half way then stops, I then take the battery off and then reconnect it and the tape ejects.
I have tried a cleaning tape but the same thing happens with that. Any help would be much appreciated because I have tapes of my children as babies that I need to transfer to the PC.
SOURCE: NO PLAYBACK
According to Sony support, you should follow these next steps: 1. Ensure the batteries are fully charged or the AC power adapter is connected. 2. Remove any media (tape, Memory Stick®, DVD, etc.) from the camcorder. 3. Properly reinsert the media. 4. Ensure the media compartment is properly closed. 5. If the problem continues, try inserting different media. In addition according to your post it is very likely that you busted the tape mechanism. In this case only a certified technician can help you. I hope you work it out

SOURCE: Message reads eject. won't eject
Ihatecanon, Tried the steps you provided above with no luck. Then decided to gently smack the camera twice on the right-top side of the tape compartment. It freaking worked the first time. Got this idea by watching Eric Cartman on South Park... No, really. I read about this in another forum. It's a quick $150 back in your pocket. Just think. You sent the camera to their tech guys and paid them 150 to SMACK-IT :)

It sounds like the tape door is out of alignment, causing stress on the tape and the inside mechanical system. Requires a visit to the service shop.

SOURCE: Tape wont play or eject.
i just read about this c:31:22 problem while looking for a solution to another problem I am having. Someone suggested removing the battery, switching the camera to the "camera" setting, and then turn it off, put the batter back in and it should work. Good luck.
