Have you tried looking under the battery. Some manufacturers regularly put their COA (Code Of Authenticity) there. If it isn't there and you havn't written it down somewhere (which is always a good idea for just this purpose), you will have to go thru Microsoft to get the code, providing you are using a microsoft OS.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: wrong product key

the key underneath your laptop is for the version of windows that came pre-installed. If you are trying to re-load windows using a different disk then the key underneath your laptop will not work, you will need the key for the disk you are using which is normally either on the disk itself or on/in the case that it came with.

The sticker underneath is a Certificate of Authenticity for the Windows operating system, not for Word.
If your system came with Word (or Office) as a bundle, then you should have a separate booklet or leaflet with a product key.

If however the laptop came with a trial license of Word (which some producers give as a "bonus"), the trial license might have expired.

SOURCE: Purchased new acer laptop with

The product key on the underside of the laptop is for your OS.
The version of Office is the free trial version and you will not be able to use it after the expirey time. So you have a choice; either purchase the Office from Microsoft

or for free go to and download a 100% compatible freeware Office.
I think OpenOffice is better as it will produce PDF files if you require them, Microsoft won't!

Can you get ANY numbers off the sticker? What you can do is contact DELL and give them your service tag number, they should have your product key (on the bottom as well). Also, the number should be in the CD sleeve that came with the laptop.
