Question about Frigidaire FGUN2642LF
Fridge was delivered today. It was a repaired model that had been returned to the store and sent off for a fix. Service invoices indicate it was repaired and a part was ordered, but does not specify what the part was. The freezer temp appears to be slowly falling and is now down to 37F, but the fridge temp appears to be slowly climbing and stays above 70F. I can hear the fan running in the bottom by the condenser and compressor, but that's it. I hear a random intermittent clicking in the upper-middle area in the back but I don't see any way to access that area. I think that's the evaporator fan clicking on. Earliest they can get a repair tech out here is 4 days away due to NYE holiday. I'm a very capable DIY on most things, so I'm confident if it's something simple I can handle it myself. I'm not afraid to get into it myself, but any tips for what I should be disassembling or anything else would be helpful.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Dave, what you are hearing is the overload kicking out on the compressor. It's one of two things, either the compressor is failing or PTC (overload, relay) is going bad. I haven't seen too many PTC's fail on Frigidaire, but I have seen a lot of compressors failing. Your refrigerator will have a 5 year warranty, parts and labor if the compressor is at fault. You would have to do some tests on the compressor to determine which one is at fault. If you have a clamp on ammeter you can see how many amps the compressor is drawing during start and run. The compressor should have a label on it with the amperage information. You could just replace the PTC, part number 218721119 and see if the problem goes away but you could be throwing away money here if the compressor is the problem. With out being there, my guess would be the compressor itself. Catriver...post back.

Locate the defrost timer and rotate the dial a small amount clockwise. If the compressor starts the timer should be replaced. If the compressor does not start check the temperature control. It may be bad, if it is bad try jumpering the thermostat wires. If it starts and runs the thermostat is bad. Replace the thermostat.

wihtout replacing the relay there really isnt any way to tell if its the compressor or the relay. the relay is veyr inexpensive in comparison to the compressor usually less than 70 bucks. and the best part is you can replace it yourself as opposed to paying a service company. this is the part number 218721113 and it prices at 38 dollars thru
once you replace the part if the compressor starts you should be ok. if it doesnt start then you will need to call a service company to replae the compressor or look at replaing the refrig. if the unit is less than 5 years old it may be under warranty for the compressor so check into that first. if I can be of further assistance dont hesitate to ask. thanks Peyton

Hello Angela Clark - Typically error code SY CF indicates that the refrigerator has detected a communication failure after power up. Contact a professional to move forward accurately. The wiring between the main control board and user interface board will need to be check and diagnose. Depending on the diagnoses the main control board may need replacing.
