Question about Televison & Video
If I had to guess, I would say it's most likely the output on your Xbox. (I don't know if the problem persist through all of the sources, even while watching tv, which would indicate an issue with your TV. But because you said GAME and HD come in clear, I can only assume that the TV is working, and the issue is with the signal itself. First, before you open it up, borrow a buddies cable, and make sure it's not just a faulty cable. If a different cable presents the same issue, then it's almost certainly your Xbox. (try another input, any other input like another xbox, dvd player, TV... to verify the source of the issue)
Specifically, this looks like a capacitor problem to me. I would look for capacitors (tiny soda can looking things) that the top is convex, or is leaking from any point. If you see any capacitors in which the top isn't completely flat, is leaking, or may have shed a lead, (feels like only one wire is soldered in when you wiggle it a bit) replace it with a capacitor of the same values. (470uf 16V can be replaced with a 470uf capacitor of higher voltage, but not lower.) The problem is, that capacitors don't always physically display faults, but may still be faulty.
If you don't see any obviously dead capacitors, I would check the solder points, and the pins on the video out connector. Just make sure that all solder points allow for continuity, and all pins are coming in contact with your cable when you plug it it. sometimes one or several pins may become slightly bent, not allowing for a complete connection. If you have any other questions, or info that could aid in repair, let me know!

This set does have a video problem. If it was bought locally, then, the retailer may have a 30 day return policy. If bought online or cannot be returned, then, contact Sony, for a service center in your location: http://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do Either way the set is to new to have a problem and you should get it resolved as soon as possible.

SOURCE: hi I cannot find the
If you go to the following website you can download a copy of the Servie Manual and the User Manual:
The file is a pdf type file. If you go to page 171 (actually page 14 of the User Manual which is located after the Service Manual), the User Manual has step by step instructions, accompanied by illustrations, of the steps you need to take to replace your lamp.
I hope this information will help you in resolving your issue.

It looks like the vidoe board but the fault can be also a distortion in the horizontal / vertical section. So check the PIN amp and related sections. What must be looked is of the HSTAT can be off set.
Deguass the set well to confirm if there is any possibility of a distortion of picture by a severe magnetic field.
Since there can many problems associated with a distorted picture but you can try and see these possibilites other than the Y amp processing. Hope my suggestions helps.
