Question about Phones

5 Answers

We have a Uniden home phone DSS7855/DSS7855+1. We usually pick up the handset, dial the number and press talk. The number dials straight away. A few days ago the phone was put through to our mobile so we could receive calls while away. On return I accidently tried to make a call on our phone before cancelling call forward to the mobile.Since then when we lift up the handset and dial a number there is a period of a "continuous engaged" signal before the number dials. This did not happen before????

Activate Call Forwarding And Then Deactivate It. Then Unplug Your Receivers From The Power Source For About Two Minutes And Remove The Batteries From Your Handsets. Then Replace Batteries And Plug The Phone Back In (Note) You May Have To Put Your Phone's On The Cradles For One Second To Get Power.

Please Be Advised That This Method May Delete Your Recorded Greeting And All Numbers Saved In Caller I.d Or Programmed For Quick Dial.

Thanks For Using Fixya.Com
Sincerely,
Michael Scott

Hi!
You can reset your phone and then can reprogram it again.
You can reset it by---
Unplug the battery. Hold down The * (star) and the #(hash) keys simultaneously. Re-connect the battery, phone will beep and screen will be blank. Press the voicemail (righthand silver key under the lcd screen). As above EEPROM/RAM message will appear. Place handset on base and your problem is solved.

Hi,
Please take out battery of hand set for couple of minutes and put back battery and check hand set by dialing a number.
Handset might need to re-register with base unit.

You should probably reset you cordless base unit, place each handset in the base unit and reinitialize each hand set. The procedure to reset you base unit is probably in your manual and I won't take the time to Google the answer you can find for youself.

My suggestion lies in the fact that your base unit is confused by what you did and how you did it.

Worldvet

How to set up Speed Dial on a Uniden phone?

My Mom had this same problem.   I found these instructions on Uniden's website (uniden.com) under the "Owner Manuel" section.

Here you go - good luck!

Using the Speed Dial Memory
Storing Numbers in Speed Dial Memory
Your cordless phone can store up to ten numbers (up to 20 digits each) in the speed dial
memory. To store number in memory:
1) When the phone is in standby, press [memory]. The talk/batt low LED flashes.
2) Use the keypad to enter the phone number.
(To enter a 2-second pause between numbers, press [redial/
pause]. Each pause counts as a digit. )
3) Press [memory] again.
4) Select the speed dial location where you would like to store the
number ( [0] to [9] ). You will hear a confirmation tone indicating
that the number has been stored.
NOTE:
• Storing a number to a speed dial location will
overwrite the any previously stored number without
warning.
• When storing numbers into memory and the handset is idle (i.e., no key is
pressed) for more than 0 seconds, it will beep rapidly, and then the phone
will return to standby.
Dialing a Stored Number
1) When the phone is in standby, press [talk], and listen for a dial tone.
2) Press [memory] and enter the speed dial entry ([0] – [9]) that has the stored number
you want to dial. (If you enter a digit that does not contain a stored number, the
handset will beep rapidly, and the phone will not dial.)
Chain Dialing
The speed dial memory is not limited to phone numbers. You can store any number (up
to 20 digits) that you need to enter once your call connects. This is referred to as Chain
Dialing. An example is a frequently refilled prescription number. Store your pharmacy
phone number in one speed dial and your most frequently refilled prescription number
as another speed dial. To use, once you ring your pharmacy's automated prescription
line, simply press [memory] and the speed dial number where you stored your account
number.
Erasing a Stored Number from Memory
1) With the phone in standby, press [memory] twice.
2) Press the number of the speed dial entry. A tone indicates that the stored number is
erased from memory.

I need to reactivate my uniden cordless phone with remote extra handset. It was on a second phone line in my home, and that phoneline has been cancelled. Now, both units are charged, but and plugged into...

This should get the job done for you!

To re-register DXA14588-2 handsets:
  1. Pick up the handset from the base. Press and hold [find handset] on the base.
  2. While holding [find handset], place the handset in the base. The charge/in use LED on the base begins to flash, indicating the base is registering the handset. Wait for at least five seconds.
  3. Pick up the handset from the base and press [talk/flash]. If the display shows TALK, the handset is registered. If not, place the handset in the base to try again.
  4. Press [end].
  5. Place the next handset in the base and wait for at least five seconds. No need to hold [find handset] this time.
  6. Repeat steps 3 - with any other handsets you have.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Good Luck!
