Question about Kenmore Elite Oasis ST 6806 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

How do you change pre-set dryer automatic settings on 110.C6806 - handbook gives incorrect instructions

Dryer manual says to change preset dryness level settings by pressing and holding the DRYNESS LEVEL button for 5 seconds and the dryer will beep and "CF" will be displayed for 1 second followed by current drying setting. This is totally FALSE. Says it cannot be done while dryer is on. Then how are you supposed to do this??? Doesn't work no matter how I try to do it. Without power on, cannot get any settings, with power on, just shows the different settings but doesn't allow any pre-sets to be changed. Is there an update to this manual that makes sense????

Unplug the unit for 40 minutes and try to reset the main controller. It may just be out of sync.

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore Elite

The problem is either the timer malfunctioning or the dryer motor is faulty. The timer may have a dead spot and the dryer stops whenever the timer comes to that point. The dryer motor is may also be locking up and stops thereby making no dryer function work. Necessary electrical check must be done to test the motor. You may fiddle with the timer knob to possibly clear any dead spot. Also check the timer if it continues to run when the dryer stops. Try holding the push-to-start button to see if the dryer still stops.

LG front load dryer jumps from 40 min to 19 min to 5 min in short time. Any suggestions?

Dryers can base their drying time two different ways. If you are using the "dryness" settings, when you first start the cycle, the timer will show a specific time. If the contents dry fairly fast, the moisture sensors in the dryer will reduce the remaining drying time. This may be what is causing your changes. If you want a specific time on the dryer, or the dryness settings aren't getting the clothes as dry as you'd like, opt for a "timed" dryer setting, where you choose the drying time. This bypasses the sensors.

Dryer is set to run 40 mins when it shouts off at 0 on the dryer is has only run 20 mins according to my stove timer

Dryer has a moisture sensor that detects the clothes are dry so it shuts off earlier. If the clothes are still damp then the dryer vent may be plugged and causing the unit to run hot or not able to fully evacuate the air from the machine. Clean the vent and make sure it's completely free and try again. If it short cycles again and clothes still damp you may have a sensor controller issue.

Dryer continues to run past the preset time.

If you are not running the load on "Time Dry", the machine will automatically use the sensor dry settings. Meaning that it automatically adjusts dry time with the dampness of the load. If you look near the time window you will notice that it says "est. time remaining". If you would like to have the unit run for just 20 minutes use the time dry button you will notice the dryness level light will turn off. The means your unit does not care how wet or dry the clothes are it will just run for 20 minutes. Hope this helped explain things.

I have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGR6646BI-12 the clothes feel warm but not hot and they are still damp

The Dryness Level allows adjustment of how damp or dry the clothes are at the end of the cycle.
  1. Make sure the correct Cycle has been selected for the type of fabric being dried.
  2. If the correct cycle is selected and the clothes are still coming out too damp, use the Auto Dry Level button (Kenmore) or Dryness Level button to increase the Dryness level.

  1. If the highest Dryness Level setting was selected and the clothes are still damp, the Customer Focused Drying Mode settings that are built into the machine can be adjusted.
Dryers come from the factory set to Drying Mode 1 (default). Drying Modes 2 and 3, include additional drying time.
Note: This change will affect ALL Auto Dry cycles.
  1. Machine MUST be in Standby mode before beginning. (Standby mode = Plugged in, Power off)

  1. To select drying modes, momentarily press the Auto Dry Level button (Kenmore) or Dryness Level button (Whirlpool) again. The dryer will beep, and the display will flash and show the next drying mode number.
  1. With the door open and the display flashing the desired drying mode number, press the Start button to save the drying mode and exit diagnostics.
  1. Press the Pause/Cancel key at any time to cancel changes and exit from this mode.
Hope this works............

Kenmore 11070702990 Gas Dryer - Timer does not work

If your dryer seems to run forever, it could be because of a clogged vent or internal ductwork. Your dryer may have an automatic cycle that turns off the dryer when the clothes are dry. It does this with a special thermostat or moisture-sensing system.

Normally, this is what happens during an automatic cycle:

  • The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a pre-set temperature--say 135 degrees.

  • When the dryer reaches the pre-set temperature, the thermostat tells the timer to begin advancing. (If there's a moisture sensor, the timer advances only if the moisture content of the clothing is low enough.)

  • The timer advances until the interior cools, then the thermostat tells the timer to stop advancing, and tells the dryer to start heating again.

This cycle continues until the clothes are dry. But…if the vent is clogged, the dryer may never reach the proper operating temperature, so it doesn't send the signal to the timer and the dryer continues to run indefinitely, even if the clothes are completely dry. To fix the problem, clean the vent and/or internal ductwork.

If it does not heat up, the element can also be faulty.

If you need to call a technician there is a phone number listed at the end of the user manual.
