It is so common that the drain leaks in many ways and is the most problematic fault in a washing machine. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that water has leaked then as the drain hose pump/valve and fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for possible leaks here. In some cases the drain hose would be clogged at the drain end to outlet of the house and so there will be back flushing resulting in overflow to the outside. Also the drain pump/valve can be clogged or the drain hose clamps can be loose on the grip which can all cause the leak to occur. Removing and cleaning the drain pump/valve, tightening of the hose is also very important. Also water can leak if there are gaps on the front door gaskets and must be checked but this will happen only during the cycle and not on the drain cycle end.

SOURCE: Leak from maytag top load coin machine during spin drain cycle only

Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim

SOURCE: Roper washer does not drain

Alicia7q : Faulty water pump or restriction in drain line between tub and outlet hose.

arlenekc,: That metal thing is part of the motor. What you have is a leaking water pump.

badwasher,: Check the lid switch. This machine will not spin or drain if the switch is faulty.

Great question, here is your answer. You have to open the console (usually 2 screws in the front or back where the console meets the top of the washer) Pull the bottom of the console towards you and swing it up. Remove the 2 brass colored clips underneath by pushing down with a large screwdriver at the point where it goes into the top of the machine and press down while simultaniously pushing towards the rear. Now there will be a connector with a white, green and gray wires in it. Unplug this connector. Now tilt the top of the washer towards you (the top, front and sides all come off as one assembly) The washer will fill with water, but you will not be able to drain it unless you install a wire between the white and gray wires on the machine side. ( I would do this with the unit un-plugged and make sure you have a good connection by spinning it before you add any water. Likely the leak will be coming from the pump (white peice of plastic in the lower front with 2 black hoses going to it). If so, pry the two clips off the pump with a screw driver. Put the pump over a bowl to catch any remaining water. Squeeze the clamps on the hoses with a pair of pliers to remove them. A replacement part is availible at a local appliance part store or on line from the manufacture's web site.

SOURCE: Roper washer leaves clothes wet after spin cycle.

Thanks, Master Tech; I was having the same problem as Jason. When I put the pen in place, I realized that the motor was running, but the tub wasn't spinning (which I thought it was because of the sound of the motor). So, I put my hand in and gave it a push/spin and it started turning on its own after I did that.. So, I'm going to let it run and see what happens when the cycle is done. At least its a start in the right direction!

Washer leaks during rinse and spin cycle

What is the
model number of your unit?

Model RAS8245EQ1 The washer is not spinning on the rinse cycle. I need to check to see if it is agitating during the wash. When pressing the lid switch it sounds like something is coming on but no spin.

If the washer will fill and drain, but won't agitate or spin, you may have a broken motor coupling. The noise of the motor engaging, lack of agitation and ability to still drain are the usual symptoms. This is a common fail item with this model washer through normal wear and tear. Newer versions of the coupler are more resilient and resist breaking. The following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385252-replacing_motor_coupling_whirlpool_top

The motor coupling is located between the drive motor and the transmission and takes the place of a drive belt. They do wear out and can break. The replacement part number is included in the link I provided and is an improved upgraded coupling that is more resilient. It should last longer. If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

A replacement coupler can be purchased on line at appliancepartspros.com for about $11. Just use the part number in the link and "Search by Part Number" for your search criteria.

NOTE: Your washer is manufactured by Whirpool and has Whirlpool parts. So, these instructions will apply.
