1 Answer

Card cover. Hello, I'm from Belgium (Europe). The card cover of my C-740 UZ is broken. I can close the cover but it jumps open. Ther is missing a small part on the door that clips in a lock. How can I fix this problem? Do I need to replace the card cover, where to find? Tnx, Luc

Re: Card cover.

The cheap, instant way is to tape it down - pvc electrical tape is probably the best for this although it will get sticky after a while. La fa?on bon march? et imm?diate est d'utilisez du Scotch / bande ?lectrique PVC - le deuxieme est probablement le meilleur pour ceci bien qu'il obtiendra collant un peu plus tard. if you want to replace the cover then contact Olympus Europe on this link; si vous voulez meme remplacer la couverture contactez Olympus Europe sur ce lien ; another way to go would be to find a local dealer or two and ask them if they have any C-740 that has a good card cover but is otherwise unrepairable - you might get lucky.

Olympus FE-46 shows Card-cover open error. Cover is closed.

Hi, I have solved this problem in a Olympus Fe-20 camera. First of all, I will explain the facts of the problem. When closing the cover, inside the camera, there is a switch that get closed. This switch is like a door that opens or closes a electric contact. So when this switch is broken it does not join the contacts, so the camera thnks that the card cover is still open. Taking out some screws of the plastic tap of the touch screen, you will see, the touch screen fixed with a special conector. With a small screw driver take the black part up, and then you will manage to take out te touch screen. Then you have to take out the the board where the touch screen was fixed, taken out some screws , and disconneting the card from a similar conector than the one of the touch screen. So you can take out this board, and see that you have reach the main board of the camera. If you close the card cover, you can see in the main board the switch that opens/closes a contact due to the position of the cover. The switch has 4 welding points. You will have to take it out, by a tin solder. Then put a tin in the left down welding point and fix with a wire to the rigth up welding point. Fix the boarding card with its conector, fix the touch screen with its conector, and try to switch the camera on. If OK, fix everything up. If not, have a look at the contacts welded, that the problem is there. Hope to be helpfull.

Hi, I have an Oly SP-510 UZ camera and I have a problem with it, don't recognize the XD 1GB card. I tryed many cards (2GB and 1GB) and all are the same, when I insert the card I have the message "card is...

Hello Musat

The problem sounds to be with the card reader of the camera. Most often what happens is that the soldering on the card reader's connection to the circuit board gets loose and if one of these contacts are loose , it gives a card error.

The problem is most likely not firmware or card related and unfortunately opening the camera to check the soldering is not really a user friendly fix. If you send it in , it will cost about $40-$80 to have this fixed.

Have a look under a good light into the card slot and see if you can see anything out of the ordanary that may be blocking the contact pins but if there is none , you probably won't be able to fix this yourself.

If your camera is still relatively new , you should have it fixed under the warrranty service.

Kind Regards

How i can mount a new battery cover on Olympus SP-560 UZ

i just purchased a new cover for $33 from uscamera. part#omp vg4293. You will need a jewlers philips screw driver. Make sure you lay out screws where they came out. They're different. Looking at the bottom,Remove 1 screw under battery door. Two screws on bottom my mount. Open little door on left for mem card and remove 2 screws. Open little door on right side where cable goes, remove 2 screws. Then gently on end wher door goes, pull back cover back just enough to remove old door and reinstall new door. Press back together and install screws.

Card Cover Open

I have the same problem. The card-cover has to be physically held down for the camera to work. I have even taken pictures and because I didn't hold the card-cover down hard enough the pictures disappeared.
I have noticed on my camera that tiny portion of the plastic card-cover is missing. It is the very tip of the card-cover and would normally be angled up to snap into place and hold the card-cover closed. Apparantly this tiny piece of plastic broke off and now the whole camera has to be carefully handled. Can anyone tell me where I can get another card-cover?

Broken battery compartment door switch

The switch is a micro switch that is depressed(and not sad :)) by a plastic tag moulded on the battery cover. Once the cover is moved into position and closed, the tag presses on the micro switch closing the switch and thus removing the error message. As with any switch, a switch is simply open or closed, Open = high resistance or O/L, while closed = 0 ohms reistance. You can use a small wire to overcome the switch by soldering the wire to both tags of the switch so it is permenantly 0 ohms. This will send a message to the microprocessor that cover is closed and camera ready for use. Hope this helps.

Trouble with card cover

I found the same problem posted by another member. Using a bobby pin instead of a matchstick as suggested, (only because I did not have a matchstick) I put one end of it into the hole beside the memory slot and tripped the stuck trigger. Worked perfectly. THANK YOU!

Memory Card Door Sensor

the 4 square areas will most likely be behind the the memorycard slot or behind the actual lense you will have to solder it if the wiring has been broken off.

Cannot get the card to work properly

The card should not fall out as they are held in with a spring lock they need a push down to pop up to pull out- so I wonder if you have correctly installed the card ? Have you tried reformat? or another card?
