Question about HP VP6310 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Projectors VP6310 powers on fine. lamp powers on fine and the image is projected fine. after just a few minutes the colors begin to change. then the image flickers and makes a chirping sound. like a cricket or something and the projector powers off. then it wont power on again till it has cooled a few minutes.. then the same problems happen when you turn it on again. read some forums that said it's the Color Wheel Sensor. if so. where can i find one and for how much? and is it something a computer tech would be able to figure out and change? being that as my job. thanks.

Dull image on projector

This is an old projector which was released in May 2005. Projector image degrades over time as the lamp dims, and other internal factors affect brightness. The original rating is 1600 lumens which is not bright compared to a modern projector.

You can check to status which may give you lamp information by pressing ENTER on remote or projector and going to HELP.

You may find that replacing the lamp helps, however older lamps are expensive and could replace the whole projector with new one of higher specification, complete with 3 year warranty if you spend double as much. A new lamp will not restore a projector to its new state either. Here's a link to the lamp (for the UK), it's over £200 + VAT + delivery, and that's not even for a genuien HP lamp

As I say, you can get projectors with a better spec for as little as £372 + vat + delivery. This one is similar to yours, in that it is a 4x3 business projector. It has an XGA resolution. (Yours is VGA). It is 2000 lumen brightness and it has a 3 year warranty.

My projector (viewsonic pj452) started flickering. When it started it would flicker once in around 5 minutes but now it happens many times in a minute. I tried resetting it from the menu and through reset...

The power supply needs to provide a constant current flow
to the lamp. Any small change or in the current will be seen as flicker
in the lamp and projected onto the screen.
Problem could be with low voltage power supply, the ballast or the
lamp it self is beginning to wear out.

Infocus 4805 blinking red light problem

My first questions is:

Is this the first lamp you have placed into your Infocus pj? If not, did you reset the hours when you did it last time? Otherwise that can also confuse the projectors internal system thinking there is NOT a new lamp in there and there for make it stop working once the clock hours are expired and over the 3000-6000 suggested hour life.

Let me know so I can help trouble shoot other possible problems.

If you have no indicating LED, then main power supply is dead. If you have indicating LED but lamp don;t turn on, then it is either the ballast or color wheel sensor.
