Re: power on problem
Many of the later model Sony TV?s have a built in self-diagnosis function. AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks 5 times for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. In other words, the IC chips on the Cboard are burned out. This repair is not one that should be attempted by the end user. This repair will need special test equipment. You will need to take it in for repair. It shouldn't cost more than $170-$200. This is cheaper than a new TV set.

How many times do this standby light blinks at a time of switch on? These blinks are fault indications. From the number of these blinks, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. Count it. If you wish to get more details about the blinking codes to Sony TVs, check this link.
This is line output transformer problems. Before changing LOT,watch any dry soldering is there and also check vertical output ic is good or bad ?by replacement methode.
NOTE- if you know the protection pin, isolate the pin and switch on tv through 200watts bulb seriesly.then watch the symptomes.
Being that this is a very generic brand. These tv's are known as "throw aways" as when they break they are cheaper to throw away and replace. The companies offer little to no support. This tv will require professional service. If you need assistance contacting a professional near you to have it serviced please let me know. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution. Thank you, Lee
So, This was the result of 5 times led blinking.I would suggest you to please contact any expert or strongly recommend to contact any SONY SERVICE CENTRE for repair because it's not an easy job to rectify this problem. Hope you better understand my sayings.
Try unplugging the TV for about 10 minutes and then tunung it on again. Try a factory
To reset the TV to factory settings
1 Turn the TV on.
2 Hold down on the remote control.
3 Press and release the POWER button on the TV front panel. The TV will turn itself off,
then back on.
4 Release .
I'm assuming step 2 means hold down the power button.
3 years ago, i had the same problem with a samsung 36", when i switched it on it would stay on for around half an hour, i tried to switch on straight away, but it wouldnt, i had to leave it for an hour or so, then it would stay on for about 5 minutes. And the same thing the next day (half an hour then 5 minutes). I left it into the repair shop, it had to get a circuit board replaced at a cost of £315, dont know how much it will cost to get fixed now, as i could buy the same tv for a little over that now.
I have the same problem. When using the remote, it makes the clicking sounds like it turns on, then immediately makes the clicking sound of turning off. The LED blinks repeatedly 6 times over and over.
I *did* get it to come back on by holding the power button down for about 5 seconds. Now I'm afraid to turn it off again! :(
