Lost my wifi password

Even though you may not have the same router, go to http://setuprouter.com/networking/how-to-reset-your-router/ and reset your router, or go to your named router online and type "support. " before the full router name to get to support page.

If you're talking about the Security Code/Password that you need to access a WiFi connection, that passcode is set by whoever set up the Login requirements on the router itself. You have to get that password from that person or the WiFi Router Admin page (if it's your personal WiFi at your home) If it's a Modem/WiFi unit from your Internet Service Provider (cable company), then you should contact them for the password (if they were the people who set up the password).

Did you loose WiFi access password or router password?
If it's WiFi password then you can connect over Ethernet cable, login to the router (default password is blank) and change WiFi password.
If it's router password you will need to reset it to factory defaults and setup everything from scratch.

If you lost the password for the wifi connection then you can just log into your router by going to your internet browser and typing 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the adress bar. The username is admin and the defult password is password or 1234. Under wireless settings you can change or remove your wifi password.

If you have changed your log in password for the router then you will have to reset your router. To reset your router to factory defaults, use a pen or paperclip to press and hold the Reset button for approximately 10 seconds until the Test light blinks. Release the button and wait for the router to reboot.

Yes, all the setting and password, WEP encryption password, etc WILL BE LOST. Well they are not actually lost, they remain on the old router until you delete them or reset the router to the factory default.
I think what you are really looking for is will the setting and passwords transfer automatically(NO)
So you need to write down the old setting and password if you want to keep them and put them into the new router during set-up.
Unless you are going to personally keep the old router, for security, reset it to clear out the passwords.The reset procedures is the same for both routers

open a web browser and go to http://192.168.1.1

it may ask for a user name and password

user name/ID = admin
password = password or admin or just press enter

then you can administer your router through the web browser.

There is a Reset pin on the Wifi, press the button once and connect the wifi to ur computer using LAN cable, once it is connected it will prompt for a New password.
