Question about Samsung HT-Q100 System
Since I bought the System, I have never been able to experience the surround sound of the System purely thru the TV i.e. just regular cable tv programs/shows etc Only when I select it for DVD or for Music does it work. Isn't the point of the System to provide the Home Theater experience at all times. I looked at the Manual, and it makes no reference to this point. Yep me too, Blue ray DVD/ DVD's 5.1 surround sound is fantastic!!, switch to ipod, FM radio fantastic!!!, switch to Foxtel or HD TV channels sound emmits from only 1 of the 5 speakers (LEFT)....no surround sound
This seems to be a problem that has to do with your HDMI audio output.
First check in your TV setting if audio out is selected on your correct HDMI port. Than check if your receiver is able to receive audio via HDMI (i assume you used the HDMI connection). Some receivers have HDMI IN connections but are not able to receive audio on it, the latest receivers/sets do have this feature. If your receiver doesnot support audio IN via HDMI you can only do one thing, connect the stereo audio-out of your TV to an AUX IN connection on your receiver.
